I know I'm allergic to these but this time the reaction is quite extraordinary:

Does anyone have a practical tip on dealing with this?

Note to self: Don't ask Revleft for semi-medical advice again. You'll have died before getting any.

Punch yourself in the gonads. It won't help the bite, but it'll take your mind off of it.

put some vinegar on it
for your health

honestly though, i dont know. maybe a bit of a regional purge(BAD IDEA AND I HIGHLY RECOMMEND NOT TAKING THIS ADVICE)? mosquitoes tend to leave something that blocks the blood. so, getting that out of the way might be something to figure out how to do.

What country did the mosquito bite take place? The extent to which you need to worry depends on that because not all countries with mosquitoes have mosquito borne malaria.

In my experience prevention is better than cure. Theres probably not much you can do apart from apply calamine lotion and use mosquito repellent in future.

Just a plain old Dutch mosquito.

Yeah, I'm using that right now.

The swelling has shrunk a lot by now though, so I guess this is good.

leeches.

^This or you could try blood letting, either way, you need to drain yourself of your bad humors.

What I would do, but I don't recommend it.

Lol at the leeches and blood letting posts. I think it might be good to use some kind of ointments... I really don't know. The human body is a mystery to me. xP

LOL are you fucking serious? When I first looked at that photo I didn't even see the supposedly huge swelling. You've basically been bitten by a mosquito - not that unusual during summer - with no particularly unusual consequences, and you're asking people what to do about it as if it's a serious medical issue. If it was at home, just buy some mosquito coils ffs, but otherwise don't complain about something so trivial!

If I were a sexist bigot, the most appropriate thing to say here would be "man up!".

I guess you're blind then. The swelling is pretty clear and was almost covering half the bottom leg.

If you have such a severe alergic reaction you should get anti-histamine tablets or cream!!! See your doctor.

Camamile tea and lotion will help. The tea to drink. THe lotion to apply every few hours. Same goes for aloe lotion.

If you have soda at home you can mix it with water to make it a paste which you put on to alleviate the sting and itch...it also cools the skin.

Its rumored that ibuprofen helps reduce swelling. But that works normally on normal bumps....I dont know what it will do with yours.

Vitamine B complex helps a lot. It really does.

You seem and appear to have skeeter syndrome. To prevent this you can benefit from prologed intake of garlic or garlic pills which will alter your blood composition and may be less appealing to musquito's. Doesn't always work but its a good and cheap remedy.

Well...its a pretty obvious huge swelling. No offence. But its very clear. Thats very rare and unusual. Its an alwergic reaction to the saliva of the musquito. Normal bumps are a cm or so across. In some people bites will cause everything from blisters, to postules, to huge swellings...and end in anaphalactic shock. Those are not normal reactions.

I would plus you if I could :) Thanks.

Actually, it only became itchy after a day or so of the swelling and scratching did actually lessen the (remainder) swelling (it was only half of that since the photo at that point), so I guess it was a lot of fluids being "stuck" that were released by the scratching.
