So I originally stumbled on this forum when I was researching for my final paper on communal property and I'm glad I did.

I currently reside in Orange County, California and the leftist scene is virtually non existent, but has potential. I noticed some dude on the bus reading Marx(I couldn't make out the book). At least every few minutes, he would stop and a "thinking" look you come across his face. The scene in The Matrix where Morpheus is grinning as Neo takes the red pill popped into my head.

This forum is definitely home and I look forward to learning as much as I can, make new friends domestic and abroad, learn how to start an organization and maybe engage in a few debates.

Welcome and thanks for an excellent intro.

I'm at the far northwestern corner of California. I live in Tea Party Town, where the politics are even more abysmal than in Orange County. Well, maybe.

I'm white and supported the Panthers in the late 60s and early 70s. I also spent ten days at Santa Rita County jail after my arrest at a non-violent sit-in in support of Eldridge Cleaver's right to lecture at Uc-Berkeley.

So I was an idiot. Eldridge Cleaver always was a con artist, not a revolutionary. And Huey Newton ended as a thug and might have always been thuggish, despite a lot of good ideas and action. I've always appreciated the wisdom in his "You can't fight white racism with black racism."

It is impossible to tell how the Panthers would have done without the massive FBI and police campaign of infiltration, suppression, and assassination.

There are many lessons to be learned from the history of the Panthers. Learn them and bring us a new, improved Black Panther Party. We need some new cats roaming capitalism's jungles.

Welcome to the forum! I think OC has a Food not Bombs chapter somewhere, might be a good place to start finding leftists.
