This is a bit like that time when the Mr Men series was a load of commie propaganda because Mr Strong is red and Mr Bump is blue or something like that. And don't even get me started on the kind of fringe sexual behaviour Tellytubbies was encouraging our children to partake in!

A little blue army of fans has mobilised to defend the Smurfs against accusations of antisemitism, racism and communism.

WTF?
Great they're at the whole Nazi-Commie thing again.

I think they'd probably misunderstood that South Park episode where Cartman accuses Wendy of killing all the Smurfs and thought it was a documentary or something, I dunno.

Still, blue pride worldwide!

We have to take this to its logical conclusion...and what worries me is that it wasn't spotted...

The obvious Mysogeny and gender role discrimination of the Smurfs as a series. I mean come one!

Gargamel created Smurfette. An obvious reference to creationalism. Since Gargamel represents the "3vul Jews hurrdurr".

She was specifically created to lure the Smurfs to their ultimate doom. She was also the first female smurf in the village. The first one they had ever seen!

So we have this women introduced in this happy community of gay little smurfs. And all of the sudden there is conflict. Her duty is to lure the smurfs to their doom, as previously stated, so thats a direct biblical reference to the fall from grace. A perpetuation of the biblical notion women are reponsible for the evil in men.

But thas not all. There is more...because at first Smurfette was "ugly". She was crude and had black string like hair. So she got to the community...and the comunity all ganged up on her and eventually presured her into going to all lengths of trouble to become more "esthetically pleasing" to rid her of the inherrited evil for which she was created.

Because they all gave her this make-over and all of the sudden she was al nice and good. Not only is this an obvious attack on women in general but it also subliminally puts in the message that the only good woman is a pretty women. THis is perpetuated in several other episodes in which Smurfette loses her cool and becomes very angry and vindictive when her looks change and she becomes less esthetically pleasing!

So now we have this pretty young women living in a town with all these male smurfs and the groups dynamics totally change. Every smurf wants to smurf that...if you know what I mean and soon conflict arises in the once peaceful community of all male Smurf who happilly compete amongst each other to smurf the smurfette.

Even fighting and violence break out...and Smurfette revels in the attention. This..no need to say...perpetuates the notion that women like violence and want to be dotted upon. Like they are a prize to be won.

We also hjave suggestive episodes in which Smurfette is romantically linked to several different smurfs. Now the series isn't really explicit...but all of the sudden there is this season in which we see several tiny smurfs walking aroun. Their looks are completely different and its obviously for the public to deduce that they are Smurfettes. There is no other explanation for the reproductive nature of the Smurfs. And the series never tells who the fathers are. So quite obviously this leaves hanging the notion that Smurfette gets around!

So yeah...quite obviously the Smurfs are Mysogenist blue bastards who perpetuate the gender roles and advocate the inherreited evil in women as te good little christian missionaries they are!

:cursing::cursing::cursing::cursing::cursing:

Disclaimer...all of the above is intended for comical effect.

So yeah....I guess you can see everything you wat to see in cartoons.

yeah and spongebob square pants is clearly part of the homosexual agenda to convert males to being gay.

you know that show veggie tales? i think it was christian propaganda to indoctrinate kids and convert some to Christianity.

p.s. that last part was a joke, they clearly were christian right wing(?) cartoons.

Really weird, actually. Considering that she doesn't look that healthy, and that Smurfette was the previous name of the admin children of the revolution.

"It's linked to childhood – it's 'don't touch my Smurfs! Don't touch my Proust's madeleine!',"

I love the french, who else links the smurfs to proust.

In all seriousness, from what I've seen oppressive gender roles did seem emphasized on that show, and that bit about the mosquito sickness does seem off. Skin turning black, and being unable to talk? The show overall was probably harmless but that seems more than just a bit colonial in its design, albeit subconscious.

Ah yes, but if you read the article you'll see it is claimed that all these political psoitions are there "unconsciously".

That French sociologist who said it has links to Nazism and Stalinism is a fucktard. Why do these people constantly group those two ideologies together? it makes no sense.

It's easy for the ignorant to push all differences aside and throw ideologies onto one big heap.

Basically for cappies & soc. democrats both systems are seen as pure evil and enemies of everything they stand for. So not hampered by actually thinking about what they mean...they equate them not on content but on a societal subjective scale of good vs evil from their own political and economic positions.

Why would a communist care about a kidnapped Princess?

As for the Smurf it is obvious the Smurfs are Luddites as they are all artisans and resit the mechanization of their labor

ffs smurfs are being accused of everything; anti-semitic nazi's, homosexuals, communists

Smurfs seem to be the stereotypical scapegoat for everything evil in the eyes of conservatives and libertarians, alongside birthcertificates and moonlandings

I actually want to get this book, seems interesting and hilarious.

I could see how Gargamel is an anti-semitic stereotype or whatever though, possibly, mama's boy, big nose, balding, his main aim is money, it's conceivable even if circumstantial. Doesn't seem so-so far fetched that Smurfian society is Socialistic or Stalinist or whatever. The Nazi bit does though however.

I don't think so, it involved smurfs but Cartman was saying Wendy, the ineffective [insert barrage of sexist insults] president, was using smurfs to power something or some such thing, then he lived with the smurfs, became one of them and married Smurfette. Making fun of Avatar I think.

Oh, lol. Did AK's other sock get banned already? Didn't know he had a new one. If I were banned I don't think it would be worth the effort making all the socks.

Edit: Just realized that was the sock I was thinking of. Apparently he had a name change.

Looks like some people can't live without a scape-goat for all the ideologies, etc, that they blame their problems on. Smurfs might be a weird choice but perhaps we should be grateful its not another race of human beings.
