View Full Version : Black Consciousness

Some weeks ago I recently came across an African American(I hate that stupid term) Poetry Forum. And I tried to speak some sense into these people, how they where being just as feeble minded as those inbred sterotypical Southerners were. I said a lot on various differant topics, they not only banned me, but they deleted all my posts! I was so furious, I was hardly derogetory, yes what I said could of been seen as a little harsh, but no doubt the main reason for abnning was because they couldnt answer my challanges, and I made a number of very good bloody points!!!!!!! You should read these people's posts, they are like on drugs or something; going on about how they feel when they think of Africa, how they become spiritualy filled and crap like that. These people have created this myth they belive to make themselves feel good, they all belong and share a deep connection to this magical and powerful place making them feel better. Black consciousness had a purpose, it has been furfilled in the western world already and should now rightly die, but now it has rooted too deeply in these peoples culture or something (where do thes poeple learn about "Mother Africa" from?) and so now they are caught, caught in this wonderfuly empowering belief that does not stand when tested with logic and true humanerterian sentiments. These people are ignorant, and need to be educated. And I have tried. It just pisses me off, as soon as I see one of these people in person, which im sure will happen when I travel (as ironicly enough there are non left in at least my part of Africa), they are going to get an ear full as I would give any other racist.

http://www.destee.com/forums/showthread.ph...?threadid=17706 (http://www.destee.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=17706) <---- That is very funny, there is another one around that is a Black African asking people what they thought of Africa, his tone was...well the post was called, I dont think your ready for this (or something very close), its amazing what these people actual sat down and typed in response.

What side are you on again?

Remember that these people were stolen from their homeland, forced into a horrible hell of servitude, and are still treated quite badly quite often because of their skin color. I think they have every right to be pissed.

I think you were probably too hard on them and that's why they banned you and deleted your posts.

From what I could see, they are attempting to construct a mythology...and skeptics are not welcome.

It reminds me a little of German romanticism in the first half of the 19th century...there was no "Germany" and never had been, so it had to be more or less "invented".

There's never been an "Africa", just many small "Africa's"...and these folks are trying to manufacture an "Africa" the way the various Germans manufactured "Germany".

Is it a "good thing" or a "bad thing"? I think it's too soon to tell, by at least a century.

Since I am not African, I don't think they'd be much interested in my opinion, one way or the other.

I don't see why they should.

They have a right to be annoyed and to long for their homeland. However, I can see why Unrelenting Steve may well see a different side since he actually lives on the African continent so I should imagine he has a fairly good idea about the attitudes of people in Africa and of the state of the continent.

i never said they couldnt be angry, and I suppose then its ok for the Pilgrims to make little clubs and clans that are stricktly for the previously historicly outsted from Europe, and proclaim that only they know certain things and therefore can fight for their "bretheren" in where ever. I find that offensive, and please, they were not sold to America, their anscestors were, and if they want to make their support groups fine, as long as they include all the economicly oppressed in a certain area or watever other legitimate grouping, and dont have certain racial ideas imbued in them. I dont see them shouting "slaves of the past unite all around the world", its; "black poeple unite all around the world". Being descrimianed against and having historical deprivations does not justify descriminatory behaviour, I am talking about this brotherhood they all profess because of their ethnicity- they are as ignorant as those people who thought you could be a slave if your skin was a particular colour. Now if that last statement made you angry or pricked your eyebrows, then you are this indocranaited part of the human race I am talking about.

Your response baffles me, As even shown in my last bit of writting, I am apalled by these people making myths up about their "situation" in relation to differant "races" and continents.

This racialism crap is what will put things in a racial context from years to come unless it is stemmed, the ANC in my country has always had a non racial policy, which is what will eventualy put an end to all racial tension if ever such a point is to be reached (in my country). Black conciousness had a time in SA, when black people felt inferior in one way or another (subconciously if not conciously) because of obvious reasons, but now boss' are black, they are a lot of black role models out there (eg Nelson Mandela). So now we are at a point where we no longer need to call them black role models! But some people like having that extra boost from belonging to the better club at the expense of human unity- that will eventualy bring us a lot more than petty baseless brotherhoods will.

If they really "long" for Africa then why don’t they go back? I know slavery is not something that will be-nor should be-forgotten, but using it as an excuse for every bad episode in your life is unhealthy.

I agree with Steve, for the most part. Being a Marxist means looking beyond racial struggle and seeing the real issue, that of proletarian struggle.

Har har. Ask yourself since this country stole a people from their country what have they done to help them get back on their feet? There was that war that didn't free all of the slaves, reconstruction worked out so good, no 40 acres or a mule, Jim Crow for a 80 years, 1 million of them are in prison but that's all their fault, 22.7 percent live in poverty. For a country that said they were 3/5th a human being, didn't give them the right to vote until they fought for it for decades, they haven't done a lot in return.

But hey, we got affirmative action that keeps Loknar down from doing what he wants to do in life.

Here's a radical idea if they want to go back, get the county that stole them in the first place to pay their way to go back.

Besides, they've already established a culture here. Forced Repartriation would be like a second Diaspora

you mean, after they were prisoners of war?

Loknar you're amazingly daft.

Sure son, lets do that...Lets see, the propprtions of slaves that were sold into slavery to the white man compared to how many were stolen is about 200 to 1 I reckon.

I think they can handle .5% of the bill.

No one can be sure on that, however since stealing them outright was much cheaper, I can see the whiteys definitely going with the cheapest avenue. The's the white way...I mean right way to enhance profit.

Damn straight, I agree with you completely, apart from one small detail, and that is these people were probably born in the USA, and their parents probably were as well.

But your right their ansestors got treated appaulingly badly, and their is still much oppression even today.

I dont know perhaps someone could tell me, what is the ratio between black members of the US Senet and congress compaired to the black population. I predict that the black population will be massivly higher than the black representation.

It happens here in the UK, I doubt that there nearly as many as minority group MP's as there should be. It is shocking to see such political unfairness existing even today, when we were supposed to have left that bullshit behind.

Black members of Congress (http://www.thenorthstarnetwork.com/news/topstories/181717-1.html)

As for Senators, I didn't find any but there may be one or two states that I missed, Maine has two women senators though, I thought that was cool.

Interesting. All Democrats.

I have one honest question though. Considering that "black" is only a social marker based on the color of one's skin, is this man (Ford, Tennessee) "black"?

this proves hes as white as Tucker Carlson, I think. not that it matters...

Hampton

As far as the color of his skin goes he's pretty light for a black guy, pretty close to Tucker, I'd say he pass as a white dude. It looks like he sponsored some decent bills, but a Democrat is still a Democrat.

He's from Tennessee, maybe sassy Shayla knows more about him.

Yes! I know Ford and I love him. He's from my city.. He's a great guy (not because he's a Democrat or anything, but because he really cares about our state). Sometime last year, I made a thread about him coming to my high school and my asking him what he thinks about the surge of leftism among teens nowadays. If I remember correctly, he said that leftist teens and leftists in general should stop sitting back throwing rocks at the US Government and should instead try to get involved and make some reform. He's great. I know quite a few people in his family. They're all what we call "high yellow" which means very light-skinned. It's just their quality.
