Was this before or after the virus. I believe the two might be connected, maybe?

After. I am loaded on anti-virus programs and anti-everything on my computer. That shit's fixed, but I'm becoming more scared of the internet everyday :( I have to wait another week for my next paycheck. Arrggghhhhhh.

Yes, so it seems the virus has zipped over the internet all your passwords and shit to some keyboard jockey in russia or something. You should change every single password for everything. Have you done that? I should've told you to do that when you got the virus, sorry, I know you asked if there was something else you needed to do. In any case, I would have reformatted, as I have never had luck removing a virus cuz usually you get like two or three at a time.
Anyway, if you haven't already done so, change ALL your passwords. Like right away, as in, right now. Good luck!

Thanks mate, I wondered over that. I started changing some of my important stuff, like Paypal and my bank account. If any hacker has my password to Revleft, for god sake let them have it.
edit: I tried reformatting but my computer was being weird about it. I'm not a tech-wiz, so I was/am stuck with being loaded on awesome anti-virus/malware/script programs for now.
Thankfully I just bought gas, so with the few dollars I have I should be okay until I'm refunded. Kinda low on food, but I can learn to ration haha.

That's too bad you're in the midwest. I just happily received a paycheck for my last month of work. I'd gladly take you out to eat.

Well, Paypal just sent me an e-mail for every charge saying I'll get a refund within 5 business days. Too bad I have zero dollars in my account and a 5 dollar bill in my wallet. All this after making the best paycheck in my life, just to have it snatched from me.

Yo just throw a bunch of random chopped veg and beans and stuff into a pot with olive oil, onions and some kind of sauce. You just made a chili

I have no idea what $6 would buy you in the states so i have an alternative that involves no money at all.
1. Go into subway
2. Order something
3. Take your order without paying and run away
4 .Profit

If you are an omnivore the barbecue section of supermarkets provides an indispensible supply of potentially free chicken or ribs if you know how to dispose of the evidence before you leave.

The down side to that plan it kinda backfires if you were planning on providing those outlets with your amicable patronage in the future.

I may go back to sticking to mostly cash, and having a minor amount in my bank for the sake of paying my online bills and maybe a book here or there. Cash is so much easier to keep track of too.

Yeah you really shouldn't use online banking. Some websites like Amazon are okay to use but make sure you have a dedicated credit card for it that isn't linked to any other accounts, but otherwise just don't. Why in the world would you use PayPal? That is one of the worst money transfer organizations around, it's basically a haven for scammers.

That's what I was gonna say. I couldn't begin to count the number of news stories I've seen/heard about those fuckers getting hacked. I just didn't wanna rub salt into the poor bastard OP's wounds, lol.

Yeah but I'm a cybersecurity major so being an online dickhead to people is like part of the certification process. The prof was actually telling us the other day about a relative he has who does computer stuff for the FBI and how he was like "yeah I basically just go to the bank when I want something done to my account, and almost never buy stuff online."

I've used Paypal only twice the entire year I've had it. One time to pay for my Industrial Worker subscription, and another time to repay my brother. I never use it, so I'm definitely closing my account after my money is refunded.
DAMN YOU, PAYPAL.

Hey, man, far be it from me to begrudge anybody the opportunity to be a dick on the intranets... Hell, I've availed myself of the opportunity from time to time as well.
I smell what you're steppin' in, though, being a trained network tech and all. Thing is, though, I once read that cybercrime only accounts for about 3% of all theft in the US so your likelihood of getting jacked thataway is far less than somebody sticking a pistol in your back while you're standing at an ATM. Still, it's much easier to control what thieves have access to by controlling your own behavior online... And it's especially important since when your shit gets hacked like the OP did it extra sucks because it's far easier to get wiped out completely.

Smart move, brah. And in the future, you can either pay for your subscription at your branch or via money order and snail mail (if you're a member-at-large).

I finally got my money back. Paypal is stupid. They sent half the money to my bank, and half of it was just sitting there in Paypal. So being that I saw they put money in my bank, I was checking only my bank account everyday, and not paypal. That's stupidity on my part, but I still blame Paypal. Sooooooo closing it.
THANKS TO EVERYONE FOR BEING... YOU KNOW, THERE AND STUFF. LOVE YA! <3

Just go to the place where they feed the homeless a soup kitchen or whatever. I've done that loads of times when I was broke and if you feel like you need to repay them spend a few days volunteering.

Sorry to hear about your problem man. I use paypal, but always have $0 on it. Every charge has to be confirmed by me on my bank account, twice =] If you need help getting a reformat going, I will be happy to guide you through it. What Anti-vir/ IS are you using? Loading too many will actually become counter productive and may make you more vulnerable.

Yeah, I keep most my money in cash and go to the bank to deposit some money when paying for internet stuff(ordering import stuff/paying game subscriptions/etc). Keep almost all of my money in cash. Only way someone can get my money is by prying it from my cold dead hands.

I wish I had knew that option beforehand! I never had money in my paypal, it was just connected to my bank and the person drained it. I closed my paypal, but thank you.

Avast!, NoScript, and Ad-Aware.

No problem. I use paypal pretty often since I do a lot of my shopping online due to cheaper prices. I use it due to the buyer protection they offer, but I make sure to make it extra secure.

Avast! is a pretty decent program, but I never heard of the other two. When I do Windows Installations ( Which I assume you are running, hopefully not Vista ) I usually go with either Norton IS, or Kaspersky IS. Anyone who wants a free version I usually recommend AVG.
