New slim PS3

I have been saving up for a long time and was thinking about exiting my cave and entering the 21st century finally by buying a PS3. I'm checking online and the newer "slim" PS3 is like $10 cheaper and I don't know why. It has everything the regular one has but 250 GB instead of 160 GB that the older one has which should make it more expensive right? I don't get it, does the slimmer PS3 really suck or something?

I think the reason for that is because for the years past, the 360 got all the hype from the Halo fans that drowned anything else out. Now that Halo games aren't coming out anymore, the 360 doesn't have any good exclusives (that I know of), out, that a Playstation player couldn't play. Even that Mass Effect 2 game isn't a 360 exclusive anymore, and the next one coming out isn't either. So really, the 360 and PS3 communities, are in the same boat now.

They are both good and each have countless good exclusives. Buy what appeals to you most. If there are more xbox games you want to play, then an xbox is the better machine, if there are more ps3 games, then ps3 wins.....simple.

Well I just bought a PS3 and I really wouldn't want a Xbox 360. I mean you have to pay for that online shit and I don't know many people that have it anyways, everybody I know has a PS3! And the games aren't much different anyways, what does Xbox have that PS3 doesn't and can you play it online for free? No. But it sucks because I can't sign up for the PS3 network right now because they're performing maintenance :crying:

also, dynamic quest construction for the game. so, the way you play the game also changes quest lines in side missions and stuff.

Every time they bring out a new PS3 it has less functionality which is why it gets cheaper.

When the original phat 60 gig PS3 was lauched, everyone whined about the fact that it cost £425 (over $600) despite the fact that the PS1 was about the same price at launch. So they stripped it down in order to lower the manufacturing costs. The 4 USB ports when down to 2 ports, they did away with the flash card readers and removed the PS2 chip that allowed PS2 game playback functionality.

I'm guessing similar structural hacks are the reason the PS3 slim is cheaper than the 160 gig model.

Well i'm typing this from my PS3 right now fuck yeah, it feels hella gangsta. But yeah I got black ops for free with it and bought two games. I got Assasins Creed 2(I know a little old but I didn't want to skip any part of the story which I've wanted to play for hella long) and Red Faction Guerrilla because it just looks awesome! I really need other games though but I'm kind of broke after all these purchases :( Also found where the xbox wins. You can listen to music while you play. I'm trying to listen to some gangster rap as I shoot these mother fuckers up!
