Hey. I've been a lurker for quite some time but I've decided to join as my interest in Marxism has been rekindled. I'm one of those fascinated by the new perspectives on Lenin and "Leninism" by Lars Lih and groups like CPGB (PCC). I've also got a few other perhaps unconventional ideas. I'd like to have healthy discussions about building modern and dynamic movements not concerned with "do you subscribe to the state-capitalist or degenerated worker's state model of the USSR?" which is sectarian nonsense. I'd also like to send a shout out to any other Canadian comrades (especially those in Toronto or the GTA) out there to discuss with them their perspectives and ideas on organizing in Canada. Thanks!

Hey miltonwasfried...man,
Can't avoid the NDP, that is where the workers are looking to, and I know this from personal experience. There is however a stark divide between the party's rank and file and the bureaucracy. A lot of unions as well are to the left of the party but look towards it for help. So going and setting up your own sect denouncing the NDP is pointless, you've got to work along side it and grab the radicals when you can. If the NDP falters and becomes explicitly neo-liberal (ie merging with Liberal Party) then if you are close to it you can pick up the activists and workers who have been betrayed.
Welcome, comrade. In regards to the ONDP, recently some people quit the ONDP and together with others have launched the Socialist Party of Ontario (http://www.thegingerproject.org/).
They are now, after the founding convention, in the middle of setting up local groups all over ON. Worth checking out I think.

Welcome!
Yes, "healthy discussions about building modern and dynamic movements" is what it's all about.
We all need to keep our dogmas in their kennels.
