When communists talk about abolishing private property we mean the means of production. Factories land etc. Your stuff is still yours, unless you own a factory or office building.

What Grant said. You get to keep your computers, your shoes, whatever. Property is not the same as belongings/material goods.

One thing must be noted though. Inheritance would be abolished.

It is just one way someone could accumulate capital. or even have the resources to at some point engage in commodity production.

There is a difference between your personal property which is non-exploitative and property that constitutes the means of production, which by definition( because a particular class owns it for its own interest) is exploitative and should be socialized

I like having something that mine that i own that i control.

Along with what has been mentioned about possessions, this sense (and fact!) of ownership and control will exist in a collective sense under socialism in a way that is currently impossible for the vast majority. Not just in an abstract sense, such as the working class as a whole, but in the sense of feeling alienated from the result of your work in our current capitalist society ("Well, at least it pays...").

^This, if we had to give shit up, I would not be a Communist, I'm not looking to make myself even poorer and what not than I already am, no.
