The 'America Dream' is essentially the fallacy that America is the ultimate meritocratic society. In America, nothing about your past or background matters. All that matters is that you work hard and then you too can become wealthy, you too can join the ruling class. That's what the 'American Dream' is. Compared with the Europe of the 19th and early 20th century it was indeed easier to become wealthy in America. But in the end the 'American Dream' is not based on reality and even vaguely truthful elements (like favourable comparisons to Europe) have rather faded away over the course of the past half century or so.

As Lowkey puts it, 'The American dream only makes sense if you're sleeping.'

Love Lowkey and here in America mos t people think the "American Dream" is to become wealthy but that is all it is a dream. It keeps the average person hopeful and blind while the rich take advantage of them. It is truly sad, but it us reality and we must wake our fellow people up from this dream. That is what I feel communism is all about givin the average man more power through education.

I would think so. A lot of Americans have the fairytale view of the economy and money. Thats why you have this situation where Americans without healthcare or Americans that are of a low socio-economic background can still be involved in the Tea Party or criticise taxation on the richest 10% of the top 1%. Like I mentioned on another post, that video of Max Blumenthal interviewing Tea Partiers without healthcare was pretty ironic.
