Nazi Graffiti: The Backlash

So if any of you guys have viewed my previous thread, (http://www.revleft.com/vb/nazi-graffiti-my-t153799/index.html) then you know about a Nazi incident at my school. My school has a giant Jewish population and the backlash frightens me.

I found a group on Facebook called "Show off Jewish Pride / Bash Nazis at Calabasas High School"...The Jewish pride part scared me, but I liked the idea of bashing Nazis, but then I was a little frightened by the group description.





Nazis vandalized this school last Saturday night

They graffitied Swastikas, racial slurs, and singled out individuals
Lets show them how Jews respond!!

SHOW OFF JEWISH PRIDE and MESS WITH JEW HATERS all week!!

* Blue and White
* Star of Davids
* Israeli flags
* blue and white Bandanas
* post Israeli flag pics all over the school
* sing jewish songs in the halls
* MESS WITH JEW HATING STUDENTS!

Fortunately alot of people posting on the group found these things hypocritical and obnoxious. However I still feel upset about such open support for Zionism. In fact I recall a group of motorcyclists cycling around with Israeli flags. I want to be able to speak with Jews who know the dangers of Zionism, or at least the crimes Israel is committing.

Try to talk to some of these kids, on Facebook or IRL. Explain to them about Israel & such.

Maybe instead of lecturing these people about "why Isreal's really bad, m'kay?" you could instead try an internationalist approach and say that you think that the way to fight racism is to be united against it, Jews, blacks, Irish, Hispanics, whatever ethno-cultural groups you've got. Instead of everyone splitting into tribes (that have some cultural but little biological basis anyway), which only makes the fascists' job of dividing you all up easier, sticking together is maybe a better way of approaching the problem.

yeah, i would try to push towards a unity thing instead of a Jewish only thing. It alienates other people who dont like nazis.

Also, though some might not agree with the Southern Poverty Law Center, i would put the incident into their hate watch system. It allows the SPLC to monitor hate crimes and gather statistics and they actually might provide some non-militant advice (i.e. how to talk to others and help show others that Nazis are not allowed. You know community building stuff.)

It really is hard for the average person to fight a racist/nazi/etc. without resorting to the same actions as the nazi/racist and whoelse.

How many times have you heard this exchange?

Person A: "Fuck all the (insert ethnic group of person B)!"

Person B: "No, fuck all the "insert ethnic group of person A)!"
