Interesting. It is true there seems to be a very common delusional belief here - especially among the right - that anyone who works hard enough can be succesful or rich and if someone is poor it's because they're "lazy." This leads to the thinking that they should only be given enough to just barely survive on (if that.) They ignore the facts that there will never be enough work for everyone and that the working poor work much harder than the middle class or the wealthy. And as the article points out the middle class is disappearing. Sad part is even many of the poor buy into the idea rather than deciding capitalism is the big problem and needs to go (especially after 60+ years of being taught "communism is evil.")
