Two songs from the upcoming album "Every Day I Wake Up On The Wrong Side of Capitalism" are up.

Lyrics:

I'm anti capitalism, bashing the system
Smashing the prison walls, pound till it all falls down
I'm anti capitalism, bashing the system
Smashing the prison walls, pound till it all falls down

Take a walk on the wild side, billions of criminals piled high
My mouth dry from *****ing of prison systems from outside
But I'm behind bars still, blinded by my mind scars
The rhyme star waiting on the way to the pine box
I might start kicking at cops stop the ticketing
Plot thickening, taking digs at pigs that are slicker than
Nipples dripping in liquor, hip hop I'm dickering
Dip dive, check it as we socialize the means of production
'Cause I'm anti capitalism and it's enforces
Who force us to work and in the course they jerk us
In a never ending roundabout, circle but we found them out
Read between the lines, if you're new at this I'll sound it out
X Marx the spot, whether factory or parking lot
Study all you can but then do the things that Karl cannot
Overthrow, from the Himalayas to the Poconos
Local goes world wide through channels when we open those

I'm anti capitalism, bashing the system
Smashing the prison walls, pound till it all falls down
I'm anti capitalism, bashing the system
Smashing the prison walls, pound till it all falls down

It's asinine, rivers ruined by gas and mines
Passing by waters you can't drink, and cash is why
Acid flies out of smoke stacks, and broke backs
For workers with no cash, you hope that they're pacified
Classified info, the media is passing lies
Class supplies the same, schools never say to ask them why
Abuses of the pipeline, that's a sewage crap supply
Keep making waves until the change into a massive tide
'Cause I'm anti capitalism and ideology
Iconoclast rap for the class that will demolish these
Policies to feed all, give us what we need y'all
Beat back the tsunami with a giant sea wall
Malecón, I'm underground like the catacombs
Until then, I'm killing with words within the battle poems
But of course it's not enough, no me without an us
Salt of the earth, rebirth, we've gotta plow it up

I'm anti capitalism, bashing the system
Smashing the prison walls, pound till it all falls down
I'm anti capitalism, bashing the system
Smashing the prison walls, pound till it all falls down

Lyrics:

I'm the voice of the working poor, laboring for minimum wage
Like men in a cage, I'm the memory of slaves
Never forget, I'm like what a typhoon is to waves
In effect like gravity on your ass as you age
On the mic I sound like a million bats trapped in a cage
Trapped, trying to find a way out and scratching in vein
I'm the rats that show up after it rains
I'm the scars that appear on your body after the pain
The soldier in the army, the brain in the body
Similar to Jamie Bain, I'm insane with the shottie
But my target is not a boxer, it's capitalists and cops
This rap is like a derailed train the way it stops ya
Dead in your tracks, I'm ahead of the facts
I'm the satellite, GPS and lines on the map
A seventy second long song that you keep winding on back
'Cause like an anorexic, it's stuck in your head that it's fat
So I could give fuck less about MTV player
I'm the virus that formatted your MP3 player
The slayer of nonsense, proletarian conscious
A rogue state armed with nuclear missile launchers

This is going to be a great record when it's released.

I've always liked Sun Rise Above and yet I wonder why he gets so few views. I would think that he would be in the range of 10k-50k views on each of his views yet he's always between 500-4-5k for some reason.

Seriously he has some sick songs yet nobody knows of him. I think I'm actually going to buy his CD instead of pirating it...

No advertising & very little media coverage.

Groups like The Coup have been on major labels and even people like Immortal Technique have been covered by media big and small.

Word of mouth is really the only way the music spreads.

The good thing is that you can help out with that. Pass it on to whoever you know that might be interested.

The beat on "anti capitalist mentality" sounds like it's a pre programmed keyboard with a few simple notes over the top. know what i mean?

Still good music though

Just downloaded a copy of this album (thanks Sun R.A!) and a review will come soon once I've listened to it a few times. I'm about six tracks in and it doesn't look like it'll let up any time soon. Very nicely produced album and great lyrical flow. Check it out and support the artist!

Yeah seriously. I don't see how anyone on here could see it as ok.

I like a lot of his music, and lyrically these songs are good, but if he ever wants to expand his fan base to any degree he'll have to have better beats.

There tends to be a big problem with hip-hop, and indeed political hip-hop, these days. Artists who sacrifice their music for political points is a key example, and we all know the symptoms: omitting clever hooks and word rhyme for 'Viva Fidel!' rhetoric, completely negating the actual musical substance that is caried through beats and sampling - in short, Radical who used to post on these forums. Albums and demos are predictable, a chore to listen to, and full of tired cliches that add nothing to the art.

Sun Rise Above's 6th (?) solo full-length is nothing at all like this.

The first point is that this album has good progression, it flows, at times seamlessly, from Sun RA coming hard at it, to retrospecting about how it is to be an artist in times when labels put working artists into thousands of dollars of debt. Beats are a fitting backdrop to the lyrics, at times complementing them in ways that are often overlooked by some artists. On 'Stockhold Syndrome' Sun raps that Been in chains so long I didn't recognise freedom/ Been a slave so long I didn't know it when I seen it, with the horn sampling adding an almost satirical fanfare to the sense of helplessness that these lyrics suggest. 'The Rub' sees him adding this fanfare himself, making it plain that his music is about No sell out/ No sell out - for me, my favourite backing on this album and uplifting music which suggests that tiny bit of hope we all are in politics for amongst the cold hard truth of the system.

Every Day I Wake Up on the Wrong Side of Capitalism has a plethora of standoout tracks which makes the listener come back for more. A personal highlight is 'Mon River Flow' which delivers the message to hip-hop enthusiasts as much as stagnant political rappers themselves. Complex metaphors permeate here, the chorus of sorts declares that Sun's bars Float down the moat like a barge/ Making waves like marches on May Day. 'Kamikaze', the most sinister track on the album, seizes the very sense of desperation that drives people to commit suicide attacks, challenging false ideas of imperialism winning 'hearts and minds' and securing world peace. As he says You can't beat City Hall but you can blow it to the fucking ground.

All that can really be said is that Sun Rise Above's new album seizes the politics and angst of late 80's Public Enemy, and fully freshes it up in the style of his contemporaries. Think Soul Khan with real lyrics that don't involve 'sucking dick and licking nuts', the accessibility of College Dropout without the cheese, and you have some idea what's going on here. Wannabe political artists take note. Did you think 2009's 48 Hours Towards a Better World was good? Every Day takes it one step further.

All proceeds from the album goes back to the artist rather than a label, so download this and enjoy.
