Hello,
Quick introduction, I'm an Arab-Scottish student with a particular interest in the sociological effects of Imperialism, cultural hegemonic structures in late captialism and the manifestation of different forms of resistance.

As far as leftist activism is concerned, I'm mainly involved in showing solidarity with the Palestinian cause. I've been active with both Anarchist and Socialist groups, although I've learnt my lesson concerning the all too often prevalence of dogmatic, outdated and anti-democratic beliefs in these organisations.

I now work with any group of people (regardless of organisation) who show genuine concern, dedication and sympathy with the causes they support. While we may all agree that the left needs to be revitalized, there is thankfully no shortage of honest and intelligent people ready to take the challenge ;)

Thanks for the welcome :), that was one the reasons I joined the forum. I've encountered several "Communist" groups in Scotland who insist on adopting the standard anti-imperialist "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" logic. To be honest, I can understand why many people end up bottled up in that attitude. There are certainly anti-progressive elements at work to disrupt and hijack the Arab revolutions but to dismiss the will a people fighting against brutal kleptocrats (often formally in the service of Imperialism) is to fall into the standard Realpolitik game, where the experiences of ordinary people, their suffering and expectations are conveniently ignored.

Thanks for checking my blog out btw
