I have a friend who plans on joining this group.
I have read some bad feelings towards the SI, saying they are much more centrist and reactionaries than actual Revolutionary leftists.
I don't know though, they seem ok I think?

Where should we as Communists and Anarchists stand on this? (In your opinion?)

How is that even possible? It's just the international organisation of all the social-democratic parties in the world. Your friend would have to join the national party associated with the SI. I have no idea what country your friend lives in, nor do I have any idea why he would want to join a social-democratic party, but whatever.
I think your friend might be refering to another group, perhaps the international socialists (a franchise of the SWP UK in many countries)? Like WM said, the SI is a (mostly paper) international of established social-democratic parties.

The Socialist International does not only include ex-social democrat parties like Labour and the SPD, it also, very recently, expelled the parties of Ben Ali (in Tunisia) and Mubarak (in Egypt) .....

and China is now looking towards the Socialist International too
The Socialist International also has former IMF head honcho Dominique Strauss-Kahn's party, the PS as a member.
Wim Duisenberg, the former president of the European Central Bank was also a member of a SI party (the PvdA, labor party of the Netherlands).
I wonder why they still pretend they're socialists.

I wonder why they still pretend they're socialists.
In order to discredit the historical mission of socialism and sow confusion among the masses as to what socialism actually means, I guess.
