Katsaridaphobia-fear of cockroaches
Acrophobia- fear of heights
??????? - fear of the bottom of the ocean. When i say bottom i mean the really really deep part and this may seem strange because only a handful of people have ever been there, but even the idea of being in a boat far above it terrifies me.

i have a fear of heights too but i don't think its irrational. if you fall from a height, you could die and that's scary.

I've had a lot, most of them have gone away by themselves and most do not have names that I know of.
Claustrophobia
Fear of crash test dummies
Fear of the number 38
Fear of the cafeteria ceiling (in middle school)
Fear of the song "Early Sunsets over Monroeville" by My Chemical Romance
Fear of the title character of the relatively recent movie Chicken Little
and probably a few more that I don't feel like taking the time to remember

I dislike yellowjackets but that's because they sting in numbers and can fly faster than we can run- I think that's a fairly reasonable fear.
The empty expanse of the open ocean below me- especially at night. Big things moving down there, strange sounds.

I get freaked out by dams. Also I hate big things that spin, which includes turbines, huge air-conditioning fans and worst of all, propellors on the back of a ship. I shiver even thinking about them.
And same as Mari3l - deep ocean, even though I can swim well. One of the worst experiences of my life was snorkelling off a big boat near Cuba, I panicked and then had to get back in next to the fucking propellor and the rudder.

Trypanophobia - the extreme fear of medical procedures involving injections or hypodermic needles. I'm absolutely fine with piercings and tattoo etc but totally freak out the second I even see a needle in a medical context. That goes for drips, catheters etc too.
When I was younger I couldn't deal with my food touching either, but I'm pretty much over that now :)

Wasps scare the shit out of me. I jump and run away even when I see something that could be a wasp. In summer I'm constantly looking around to make sure there aren't any wasps in the vicinity.

I'm not a fan of injections either. The worst thing I've had is a few canulas for IV drips and it was really unpleasant. Unfortunately I seem to need a lot of blood tests, which sucks and hasn't desensitised me to needles either.

I used to be like that too. Maybe it's common in children? I still have to eat my food in a certain order though.

off color specks in my food.
like, if i make macaroni and cheese, its supposed to be yellow or white depending on the cheese, but if there is even a single black speck that i spot in it, i quickly remove the noodle and then scrutinize the entire bowl.

I apologize for the title.
I also have a problem with people scratching on carpeting. I don't know why, it makes me tweak.

Wow, I also have this phobia (I actually can't go near mould or allow myself to breathe around it) but I haven't met anyone else with it and thought I was just really weird.

Im not really comfy alone in the dark if I'm outside the city. I'm ok with heights but only if im standing on stable ground/secured. In general all my phobias are related to losing control so both rolercoasters etc and haluciogenics are not something I enjoy.

Conversely, I'd love to have shrooms and then go around a rollercoaster
I also have a fear of wasps, I freak out when one comes anywhere near me. Nothing makes me bolt faster than one buzzing in front of me when I'm sat down. They're the only thing apart from flies that I will gladly kill - spiders etc I will just collect in a cup or something and put outside. I love bumblebees though, they're not as angry as wasps tend to be.

I'm not afraid of water at all- I love swimming- I like the ocean a lot. I've been free diving off boats before and swam to the bottom but yes, deep dark oceans, lakes- like the lakes with all the dead trees piled up at the bottom in the horrific gritty darkness seriously fuck that.
Edit- fucking submarines moving about below you :bored:

i once jumped off of a 40-80 foot cliff (i dont really know how tall ti was but it was sure more than your standard school bus) into a lake. it took me minutes to find the courage to do it. but the whole time i was afraid of what was under the water. even hanging out off of the swim deck of a boat, i just hate the thought of fish or snapping turtles and shit getting at my feet when i cant even see them.
also, i sometimes get creeped out when im outside in the dark. like, no light at all and just a bit of reflection from the moon or something. only when im alone though.

It's quite an interesting one, 80% of people who have it don't have a phobia in the normal sense of the word, it's not an irrational fear but actually a reflex. People with the reflex won't worry about having to have an injection in advanced, they won't get insomnia the night before or anything like people with a normal phobia, but will have a panic attack followed by a sudden drop in blood pressure, which can cause fainting or even death if it's particularly bad.
I used to be like that too. Maybe it's common in children? I still have to eat my food in a certain order though.
Yea I think it is pretty common, I know loads of friends at school said they hated this too, and they had to eat their food separately, so first all the peas, then all the chips, then whatever. A teacher told us it's a common sign of aspergers but I think most kids are a bit weird with their food. I still eat my food in order, from the thing I like least to the one I like most - always save the best till last

Yeah I don't think I have a phobia of needles, but I do get very anxious before having them. I think it's more squeamishness because I hate feeling and seeing the needle in me (the IVs were horrible because I knew there was little tube in my vein and the idea of that just makes me cringe). I have a tendency to tense up, which makes it worse, and my veins are hard to find so sometimes I come out of the doctor's looking like some kind of junkie with all the holes in my arms.

Trying to think of any irrational fears.... Spiders, I used to be completely scared of them but I kinda got over it and deal with spiders better than a lot of people.
Oh. Mushrooms. If there are mushrooms in my food, I kinda freak out because the texture of them is so nasty...

I have a minor fear of heights. But this usually only goes as far as me not knowing my footing in high places. If I feel I can keep a good footing, or am strapped up, I'm fine.

I can't say I really have any fears. I don't particularly like opossums. It's not that they scare me, I just don't like them.

Holy shit, dude, this. I completely forgot. Crocodiles and sharks scare me to death. Dead set bro.
EDIT: I wouldn't call it irrational though. It's not the same as being scared of clowns or some shit LOL
Nic.
Yeah, there's a different between a fear of something that can legitimately be scary and/or dangerous, and the batshit insane fear of something that is otherwise completely harmless.
For instance, I'm afraid of wasps, but that's understandable, because those fuckers are mean as hell and their sting hurts like a motherfucker (I once got stung in the back of the neck by one, so I should know). However, I have an entirely irrational fear of big, black moths (you know, the assholes who camp out in the corner of your house and have a wingspan rivaling that of birds). I know they're harmless as hell, and won't bother you, but as soon as I see one I flip my shit.

There's also a difference between the degrees to which something is feared that makes it irrational. I'm sure many people are uncomfortable about having blood taken, but most of them don't curl up on the table and whimper until the nurse decides the test just isn't worth it :blushing:
