Hello Comrades.

Wanted to finally introduce myself. I've been a long time lurker of these forums and like the abundant information it has. And I like how these forums have an open debate on many different ideologies.

I'm in Texas and feel like I'm the only leftist in this part of the world. I do have an open mind on many different ideologies and policies.
My family is from South America and I guess you could say this is what sparked my interest in politics many years ago after asking why my late father felt he had to move from South America to the US to have a better life, and why is this not possible for him in Colombia.
Well asking these questions led me to study about the history and politics of Colombia, the corruption and US involvement in Colombia, that has shaped my beliefs. My attention since then has spread to many different histories, politics, and ideologies around the world. I hope to learn more from here.

Hey, welcome to the forum! In studying Colombian history, did you read Open Veins of Latin America: Five Centuries of the Pillage of A Continent?

Truly amazing book, if you haven't come across it then I can't recommend it enough. Very beautifully written, almost poetic account of Latin American history and how it has been consistently exploited by European countries and then the United States.

Also it looks like soon we will have a Latin America subforum in the Ongoing Struggles section of the board.
