After reading posts around here, I decided to join the site. I'm just a general internet user who just happens to be a Cooperativist Democratic Socialist who supports both a welfare state and an actual socialist economy. As for my leftism, I was a radical republican (NOT THE AMERICAN PARTY! I mean the French radicals of the 19th century. Was a social liberal before being a radical) until I read up on socialism, and I decided to become one myself.

As soon as I'm no longer busy, I can start posting. But for now, hi to you all!

Welcome! Do you see a welfare state as existing in a socialist society? Under capitalism, welfarism is a way of redistributing wealth back to the working class, ever so slightly, to maintain the feeling that the system of legitimate. This would not be necessary in a society where worker's own the means of production themselves.

What is Cooperativist Democratic Socialism? Is it a French tendency/school of thought? It sounds interesting.

Well, Cooperativism means the use of worker coops to establish socialism. As for the welfare state, I think the welfare state is needed to balance the worker coops so that no new ruling class emerges. A constitution in turn would regulate the powers of government. Note that this is a oversimplification of my theories on Socialism.

(Yes this is my very own theory of socialism. Which combines Cooperativism, French Radicalism, and socialism together. I think I'm just going to call it Democratic Socialism since the term has no definite meaning as far as I know. Since, it seems to describe at one hand reformist parties and on the other hand anti-authoritarian variants of socialism. Until I think of a new name, I would call it Democratic Socialism.)
