The Popular Front for the Liberation saluted and mourned Comrade Milad Said Ayyash, a martyr of Jerusalem and Palestine, shot dead by the occupation army in Silwan as he marched with the Palestinian youth and popular movements marking the 63rd anniversary of al-Nakba on May 14, 2011.

The Front said that the precious blood of this young comrade - 17 years old - shed by the army of the occupation, illuminates the path of the Third Intifada, the youth movement, and the Palestinian popular movement for return, liberation, self-determination, and Jerusalem as our Palestinian capital.

The Front said that Comrade Ayyash was a brave example of the youth of Palestine and the entire Palestinian people; the son of the Ayyash and al-Obeidi families who have given many martyrs and prisoners in the struggle for liberation. His father, Said Ayyash, spent eleven years in the occupation prisons and his uncle, Jihad al-Obeidi is currently serving a life sentence behind the bars of the occupation. The Front promised its loyalty to the principles and commitments of this young martyr, to the struggle, to the youth movement, to the third intifada, to honor the sacrifices of martyrs and prisoners and the suffering of our people, in order to build our struggle and defeat the occupation, free our prisoners and win the rights of our people to return, self-determination and national liberation.

A mass funeral was held in his honor in the city of Jerusalem including a funeral ceremony at Al-Aqsa mosque and the opening of a house of mourning for three days in Silwan community center, as clashes and manifestations of popular uprising continued through occupied Jerusalem and the West Bank on the eve of major marches of return planned for Sunday, May 15, the 63rd anniversary of Al-Nakba, to the borders of Palestine.

The Front called upon all of its members, supporters and all of our Palestinian people to honor the memory of Comrade Ayyash by participating in the mass rallies on this occasion wherever they are taking place. These rallies, and the movement of return, are part of the new horizon opening from the Arab youth movement and the process of democratic and popular transformation sweeping our Arab countries.
