I grew up in Texas, and after 25 years decided I could no longer stand the climate, both political and meteorological, and left vowing never to return except to see family every once in a while.

My parents were children of the New Deal and fans of the Great Society. Unlike most folks in my generation, the election of Ronald Reagan propelled me further to the left. My uncle was in the first platoon of Patton's army that reached Dachau. He had a saying, "Nazis are good only for killing." I can't say I disagree with that.

I use the term "fascism" a lot, so I will post my definition of it here. I use Mussolini's definition since he was one of its founders and I figure he knew what he was talking about, which is the belief that government power should be used to advance corporate interests.

By that definition, the national Democratic and Republican political parties in the United States are predominantly Fascist. I have little use for them, but I have even less for those of any ideological stripe who believe it's OK to use genocide to achieve its goals, be they followers of Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, or Milosevic.

I DO love beer. :):)

Hey TE, welcome to RevLeft!

Great to see an articulate and intelligent poster enter the fray, I hope you stick around. What is it that made you decide to join?

And as for beer, I hope you mean beer and not that fermented piss in a bottle that I have heard people refer to as beer - Coors, Bud and all that. ;)

Thanks. My wife heard about this site on Democratic Underground, of all places. BTW, they banned me almost two years ago--too socialist, you know. Wouldn't blindly support Obama. Though it looks like the Obamabots lost control over there a few months ago.

As for beer, usually the lowest I will sink to is Labatt's. After spending a summer in Europe over 30 years ago, I was lost to the fermented pissmakers forever.

Welcome to the forum, glad you made it out of texas alive. Nice to have an older and hopefully wiser comrade on the forum.
