ONTARIO ELECTIONS are THURSDAY OCTOBER 2nd

REMEMBER TO VOTE!!

THURSDAY OCTOBER 2

WHY?

- Ontario ranks at the bottom across Canada in per student funding, with over $2 Billion dollars having been cut from Provincial transfers to College and Universities since 1995.

- As a result, tuition fees have sky-rocktted from an average $2,076 in 1994, to an average of $4,923 in 2003.

- Ontario now has the highest student debt in Canada, with average debt surpassing $25,000 after graduation. Moreover de-regulation of Graduate and Professional Programs have pushed those tuition fees upwards of $22 000 per year, as is being implemented for the Law program at the University of Toronto.

- With over $1 Billion dollars in outstanding building repairs, and the worst professor/student ratio in the country, the quality of University and College education in our province is deteriorating.

- Only 25-30% of eligible student voted in the last provincial elections.

- And many other reasons that pertain to your jobs, families and communities

WHERE AND HOW?

- There will be a Poll in VARI HALL for residents of York-West and residence students.

- If you don't live in this area, go to www.electionsontario.on.ca to find out where your poll is.

Actually, that email was sent out by the Vice President of the York Federation of Students (YFS) who is also a member of Young Left, and it does say to go to http://www.elections.on.ca to find out were your polling station is if you don't live close to York.

I wish I was old enough to vote, but unfortunetly I'm not. Lckily though everyone in highschools in Ontario will be given the chance to vote tommorow as well as an initiative to figure out what the future voters of the province want. I'm voting NDP.

Today I vote Green. Why? Because they are a lot better than the Communist Party of Ontario. Why? Because they actually have a workable platform that includes my social and environmental radicalism into one cohesize platform :)

I agree with you there. Its sad to say but a vote for the communist party of Canada is prety weak.

Well, I would just like to mention that I am a volunteer on the Communist Party of Canada (Ontario) election campaign, and well they are a weak party, it is completely unfair to say that their platform is weak. The party has a very good platform for Ontario & Canada. They also have a very excellent program.

The party is very advanced theoretically, but in practice the party is very lousy.

Personally, I will be voting NDP as the Communist Party doesn't even have someone in my riding.

Also, I should mention that the Communist Party of Canada (Marxist-Leninist) has a few people running as Independants here & there, so check out the independant candidate in your riding if there is one.

Voting in bourgeois elections will only produce bourgeois results. Save your time for something that's more important, something like basket weaving.

what you say is true - of course - however the situation right now in Ontario is one that makes voting a necessary evil even among us radicals. The Progressive Conservative party has done horrible damage to this province and must be defeated.

We also need to prepare are battle against the next government. I just got back from voting, and I'm sure that it is not a big deal to take 20 minutes of your time to vote.

Some of our parties, RAF, are different than some you may be familiar with. We are limited to two very similar mainstream parties. We have three, and a large number of third parties which have very radical platforms. The most advanced, in my opinion, being the Green Party because it, unlike the communists, deals with more than just the socio-economic sides of things.

5 minutes on my way to class is probaly more important than basket weaving, as baskets have very little importance in the society of today (although I am sure you could argue the opposite). I have a chance to vote a radical into office, which as soon as one is in opens the flood gates for many more, and by doing so I give my self the right to ***** about the governement. I have a chance to say 'no' and if I don't then I am just as bad.

I don't know about the USA or Britian or anywhere else (even other provinces) but inside of Ontario you can go to vote and hand the ballet in, offically abstaining from voting because there is no party that suits your needs. If enough people do this, the election cannot be won.

If the Communist Party of Canada is weak, then shouldn't we all being working to make it stronger, and actually push it out there to become a major player in Canadian Politics. We need someone to represent us in Parliment...god knows the NDP are incapable

I would like to see the Communist Party get stronger. More than that, I would like to see all of the radicals form one party, or at the very least see CPC and CPC(M-L) merge together.

However, I do not see this happening anytime in the near future. I have worked with the CPC and well I still consider them to be Comrades I do not think they are capable Comrades. I would continue to work with them, and help them, however this is not the CP that I would chose to join.

Right now I don't really know enough about the CPC(M-L) to comment on them. There is so many half truths spread aboutthe CPC(M-L) to know what is lies and not.

I am looking forward to the Revolutionary Communist Party (Maoist) coming to Ontario.
