i know the Stalin Society like to quote Goebels diary about being annoyed about about German bullets being found in the bodies and some other shit (due to the trade in the 1939 pact), but i cba to read it right now.

But that articles dishonest, goebels says this too in his diary:

"We are now using the discovery of 12,000 Polish officers, murdered by the GPU [SOVIET POLICE], for anti-Bolshevik propaganda on a grand style. We sent neutral journalists and Polish intellectuals to the spot where they were found. Their reports now reaching us from ahead are gruesome. The Führer has also given permission for us to hand out a drastic news item to the German press. I gave instructions to make the widest possible use of the propaganda material. We shall be able to live on it for a couple weeks."

why would he lie to himself in his own diary lol. makes no sense

1.Goebbels version:Poles were killed by Soviets .

2.Soviet version:Poles were killed by Nazi.

It would be interesting to know how many Goebbels supporters here.

Funny how the capitalist media forgets about the 20-30 thousand Soviet POWs who perished in Polish concentration camps during the Soviet-Polish war. At the end of the day who gives a fuck about Polish officers? I don't know who done it, as it could be either side. In any case this event is used as rightist propaganda to promote this myth that Poland was like an innocent kitten tortured by unscrupulous totalitarian reds. What a load of shit.

The truth is that we don't know. However, citing the diaries of a Nazi higher up isn't necessarily the best thing to determine who did it. Why would he write down false things in his diary? Perhaps because he one day believed that it would be found, and that certain people could be persuaded by what was in it. Also take a look at the bolded part. Perhaps Goebbels wasn't lying, but he did want to create propaganda out of this. Now if he wanted to make propaganda out of this it would make sense that he would find what he was looking for. That being said, I have no clue whether it actually happened.

Anti-Revisionists constantly make a big deal over shit like "OMG STALIN CALLED TROTSKY A DIRTY SPY IN A PERSONAL NOTE - THAT MUST MAKE IT TRUE!" But here notice that's no good all of a sudden.

In any case, its mostly irrelevant except to Stalin worshipers who have relive propaganda debates of the 1950s and Cold War liberals anr rightists who liked to cry for Poland like it was a Western paradise despoiled by Russian barbarism. No business of communists.

Well...there are also documents (http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bestand:Katyn_-_decision_of_massacre_p1.jpg) from the USSR archives. Offcourse they feature on CIA sources. Which make them basically untrustworthy.

And in the haydays of the USSR the USSR itself claimed responsibility...which was confirmed after the fall of the USSR by subsequent governments under Jeltsin and Putin. And was seen by many communists in Russia and all over the world as proof that the last governments in the USSR were actually taken over by fascists and revisionists. The Communist Party of Russia still denies the allegations that Stalin was responsible.


So...this sounds like a case for Poirot.

I never really understood why people on either side make such a big deal about the Katyn Massacre. Of course 22,000 people being executed is an atrocity but at the same time... it was World War Two.

Ohh God. What a great fucking idea, let's make an entire film featuring an endless stream of Poles being marched to a mass grave and shot. Hell the movie can be made a lot funnier with words like "PWNT!" being strewn across the screen when they're being executed and 'Another One Bites the Dust' by Queen playing in the background.
