URGENT ACTION
Brampton, September 2003
Dear brothers and sisters:
The unionized workers of MAPEI CHEMBOND Brampton unit, have been on a legal strike since August 16, 2003.
The Mapei-Chembond, Corporation, with headquarters in Italy, is a Leading manufacturer of adhesives products for the construction industry. Among its largest customers are: HOME DEPOT, RONA, LANSING, DURUX , CASHWAY, THE BUILDING BLOCK, HOME HARDWARE, PREMIER CERAMIC, PROSOL,and others.
The workers have rejected the company's offer that included a reduction of the afternoon shift premium and the implementation of 12 hours Continental shifts.
The company is refusing to provide the unionized workers at the Brampton unit with a minimum dental plan and sick benefits, while salary employees at this and other locations in Canada are already enjoying those benefits.
We are asking all of you to help us by refusing to buy any product that carries the label MAPEI or CHEMBOND until this labour dispute is settled.
We are also requesting that you write letters, send E-mails or faxes to The MAPEI corporation demanding them to put an end to the unfair labour practices and return to the bargaining table immediately.
