Wafa Bin Laden, Osama's fashion model niece, said that she found NYC to be too "sport", and that London and Paris were more daring with their fashion.

She grew up in London, I believe and I was wondering if someone could translate what she meant?

Does it mean trendy? Too much Adidas, tennis shoes, etc?

Never heard 'sport' as an adjective before, no idea what she means.

Only other use of sport I've heard beyond the obvious is in "to be a good sport", as in act fairly in whatever you're doing.

I've never heard it before either. My guess is that it's something more peculiar to Wafa herself than a "British" thing.

She might have meant too "sporty" as in too many people wearing sneakers, tracksuits, etc.

It's not British, it's fashion industry terminology:

Basically she's saying that American clothes are too pragmatic. Which is a shame only inasmuch as one considers avant-garde fashion important.

Not to mention stupid considering that NYC is considered a hub of global fashion as well... Right up there with Paris, Milan, London and Tokyo.
