The thread title is to please Thug Lessons / make Mari3L's job that little bit easier :) Now, getting down to business...
I have noticed that not a day goes by without the news having something to say about this whole affair. I have also noticed that the same cannot be said of the OI section right here on RevLeft. Therefore, we should succumb to some form of herd mentality and follow this trend like sheep. So...anybody got anything at all to say on the matter?

Is this about the letterbombs? Yeah thats sick, I'm not usually backing the po-po but I hope they catch that terrorist prick. Also I really hoped I'd never say this but, its just a game

That and the events in the recent match against Hearts, of course...

They're idiots, not much more to say than that really. You give them too much credit for even associating them with having any real political viewpoint

Bad things happen when you wrap your whole life around things that you have no direct control of.

Ever think that maybe we don't just talk politics all the time? Maybe we're interested in discussing the potential implications for Scottish football :)

A Hearts fan ran onto the pitch and tried to tackle Lennon but got taken down before he could reach him.

It was just because of the thread title - "the modern Nazis?" - although perhaps I misunderstood the tone

A tackle? Since when was tackiling going to punch a guy in the back of the head? Is this new FIFA rules?

I don't understand what he thought he would get to do before the police tackle him and arrest him. Same can be said of the would be parcel bombers. Religious sectarianism driving people to madness.

Sectarianism is a joke. I agree with the police commissioner that called for the ending of Old Firm. To think there's a debate about Northern Ireland/the Irish/the Catholics every time Celtic plays is pretty sad. Makes you think about what Scottish Nationalism might do.

The latter wasn't necessarily religious sectarianism, there's no real religious divide anymore except a few idiots. There are protestant and catholic fans and players at hearts, rangers, celtic, hibs these days. There is still a political element, celtic with the tricolour, rangers with the Union Flag, a small number who sing political songs etc. But in this case I suspect its just football rivalry and alcohol involved. Other teams have fans running onto the pitch. The parcel bomb thing looks to be sectarian, as it is targetting celtic fans only.

Old Firm FC!
Some guys were talking recently about starting up a Muslim football team in Glasgow, not a good idea!! Politics, religion etc should not be mixed with football.

ridiculous.
ending the old firm will do nothing to end sectarianism, its patronising and elitist and based on the assumption these mindless drones are spurred into letter bombs (which by the way didn't happen on the day of an old firm game), pitch invasions (which by the way wasn't at an old firm match) and general bigotry just by virtue of a football match. everytime sinn fein win a seat there's a debate about 'Northern Ireland/the Irish/the Catholics', should we ban them?
you wanna get rid of this?

My point was about the fact that football is a sport. Politics in sport is regretful, when ever someone sees a Celtic or Rangers fan they immediately assume their politics. Football shouldn't be political. A lot of fans of big supporting clubs have a variance of fans with different political opinions. But you won't find unionist Celtic fans or nationalist Rangers fans.

Thats not necessarily true, there are many Scottish Nationalist (SNP) supporting Rangers fans, and Celtic fans that are Unionist so far as Scotland is concerned. On Stormfront there's a BNP member whose a Celtic fan and a Unionist, although I don't know why a nazi would support the Union considering its England 'bringing in all the refugees'. But as a general rule yeah fuck the Old Firm. There's talk of them joining the EPL, I don't know what difference that will make if any.

I'd like to see a UK cup, replacing the league cup or something else nobody cares about.

The whole sectarianism and bigotry is really fucking annoying. Actually, just the celtic and ranger crowds are bad enough. It's really a chore to try and get pulic transport either the first thing in the morning when they're all piling into the stadiums, all drunk and stinking of cheap deodorant, everyone having to stand, buses and trains going by because they're absolutely full. Then at night on the way back, they're even more drunk. Half of them will be aggravated and the other half will be all full of triumphalism. Carrying flags, faces all covered, all singing their songs, jumping up and down on the train trying to make it derail. The city shuts down on game days. Maybe it's being in large groups of people wearing the same uniform which gives them a sense of immunity.

Oh right. My bad. I only caught a glimpse of it on the news and I wasn't really paying attention.
