Under the agreement with the Charles G. Koch Charitable Foundation, however, faculty only retain the illusion of control. The contract specifies that an advisory committee appointed by Koch decides which candidates should be considered. The foundation can also withdraw its funding if it's not happy with the faculty's choice or if the hires don't meet "objectives" set by Koch during annual evaluations.
Sabotage their industries. Boycott their products. They should not have
the right to manipulate students' minds.

Always hated the seminoles anyway.
Just kidding. The fact that any private foundation can control a school like that is worrying.

I have no problem if we're talking about a private school which students pay extra money to attend, such as Bob Jones University which is insanely right wing for example.
The fact that this is a public school that is having its curriculum edited by corporate interests is what's disturbing imo

I agree, but even for a private school, it tarnishes their reputation.

something like a third of all college degrees granted are in business. most economics departments are completely dominated by bogus orthodox econ ('capitalist laws of motion 101') and even in other departments, whenever someone with incorrect views (anti-israel for example) is considered for tenure or even asked to teach, few university administrations have proven themselves willing to stand up to the resulting firestorm from right-wing organizations and individuals. educational systems in capitalist countries are, first and foremost, there to train the next generation of stockbrokers, mid-level managers and reactionary professors. the illusion of independence they maintain only makes them more effective training centers.

A lot of universities- public and private- have fallen under the influence of outside firms. Some of these firms are more intrusive on the subject matter and the viewpoints of professors, others not so much. It is not unique to private universities though- I go to a public university that receives a lot of "aid" from various engineering corporations (mostly electric, software, and computer) who in turn use the university as a farm and get first dibs on promising engineers. This also means that the engineering courses are usually spared the axe when it comes to cutting funding.

Inside Job (the movie about the economic collapse) does a very good job of showing how many academics have material conflicts of interest (a professor starts getting very pissed at the questions).

It's only a matter of time until Florida State starts cranking out billionaires. Everyone enroll before it's too late.

I saw it also. Quite a good movie.
