I'm TheLeftStar, an Indian man in his late twenties from India. I like the Left and support it on some issues. My country has 5 Communist parties of which 3 are national level parties and the remaining 2 are banned. The national level parties are 1) Communist Party of India (CPI) 2) Communist Party of India (Marxist) 3) Socialist Unity Centre of India (Communist). The banned Communist parties are 1) Communist Party of India (Maoist) 2) Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist). On May 13, 2011, India's longest running democratically elected Communist government, the Left Front's electoral fate in the states of West Bengal, Kerala and Tripura will be known. The Left has never come to power on its own at the Centre/Federal level in India!

Can the moderators/admins tell me why I'm not allowed to use tags? It's annoying!

You need to have 25 posts before you can post links and as I understand , because this forum has had a problem with trolls and spambots, the first few posts are monitored. After that you should be okay.

You say you agree with the Left in some areas. What are your areas of disagreements? What is your take on the Naxalbari movement? How do you feel about the CPI?

We have a fair number of Desi posters.

Red Cat, our leading Trotskyist/left communist member, is well informed about the Naxalites.

Anyway welcome!

I don't completely agree with the Left on neo liberalism. It's only to a certain extent backdoor entry for capitalism. Liberalism or Neo liberalism also means making laws or changes to laws considered tough or outdated, to make laws and policies people friendly & serve masses instead of only the capitalists or rich. I don't agree completely the Left's anti-US stand. Regarding Naxalbari movement I feel in a diverse country like India one party/communist/maoist dictatorship can never ever come to power. They have some valid points but their means like beheadings, waging war against India, forcing boycott of elections, extortion is only going to hurt the Maoist cause. I think Arundhati Roy is a left winger & ultra left at that

Lot of problems here but I appreciate your enthusiasm. If you don't mind me asking, where are you from in India? I was born in Kerala, but I've lived in Australia for most of my life.

I'm impressed that you know that word! Lol at Red Cat.

My comment about Red Cat was meant as a joke. There have been somewhat acrimonious debates recently between Red Cat (who is a Maoist) and LCs and Trots.

I'm a gora but I have a lot of South Asian friends.

Lenina, quite an unusual name for a woman that I'm coming across for the first time!
