Anyone seen this?
I saw it a while ago and was impressed by it. Good war movie based on an IDF soldier's recollections of Israel's invasion of Lebanon in the early 80's. The whole film takes place in a tank, and what's seen on the outside is only visible through the tank's parascope. Pretty good movie. Did a good job of depicting the uncertain mess that was that particular conflict, with Lebanese resistance fighters, the Israelis, the Syrians and Christian Phalangists all thrown into the mix.
Would make for a good double bill with "Waltz With Bashir", another Israeli film about the conflict in Lebanon.

So what you're saying, ES, is that it's Das Boot in a tank?

Well yeah, it was mostly the story of a handful of guys in a tank, not the story of the invasion as a whole. Although there were interesting points in the film regarding the Israeli military's tactics, like the coded use of illegal phosphorus.

One of the better antiwar films out there

A roommate of mine was actually thinking of getting this to rent on Netflix, but wasn't sure about it since some of our other roommates don't really like war movies, or whatever it was they thought Lebanon was going to be. Guess she'll have to get it anyway for me and her to check out.

It doesn't really make the Israeli military look good, though.

I finally watched it from Netflix. Not bad, a bit rushed for an hour and thirty minute movie, but I don't really think it's anti-war message really broke through. I think dropping the audience into a conflict where the characters are already in a place, that a longer and more detailed movie would have it's characters a little less than halfway through, sort of brought it down for me.

Sounds like it is more of a film for those familiar with the war. Was wanting to watch with my friends... but they aren't the type to care about this type of stuff.
