Why throughout all of Europe are more right wing parties becoming popular, Pro nationalism, xenophobia, islamophob. After the financial crisis in 2008 there has been a new offensive on the working class, shouldn't this have led to more support left wing parties instead of the right. So why is this happening?

You've just explained why its happening. Whenever there is an offense of the working class the reactionaries get aggressive as well. Hitler in Germany was just a reaction to the success of the left wing parties, and likewise for all fascists and nationalists.

It's not like that here in Ireland at least. Well, I guess one could/should consider centrist parties right but I think you're alluding to hard right. We don't have those Nazi bastards thankfully. In Ireland we have seen a surge in support for left wing parties such as the Socialist Party and "People Before Profit" (Socialist Workers Party), both Trotskyite parties. And for Sinn Fein (the political arm of the once active IRA) Some would argue that SF aren't Socialist in the strict sense but I'm sure SF would disagree - not that I'm a member, I did give them my no.1 vote though, only because there was no Socialist Party or PbP candidate in my constituency.
The working class, students, the unemployed are taking a hammering here in Ireland. I was marching in Dublin late last year with 100,000 others at the time when they were as good as forcing us to take an IMF/EU bailout - c*nts. So it's not true to say the left in Europe isn't growing in strength. But you have to remember that the establishment controls the media and the media is powerful, one of the most powerful organs in society. People can be as good as brainwashed. If the left here had access to the media as the right does we'd see a major upturn for the left.
