I'm thinking about watching this movie but I'm concerned with its accuracy. Too often these movies seem to exaggerate what actually happened (I'm looking at you Baader-Meinhof Complex)
So is this movie accurate or what?

Movie is more concerned with fairtrade liberals being disgusting at violent protest than anything else. Personally, I didnt care for it.

It didn't really hold my interest because the film really wasn't about the politics of the 1999 WTO protests at all. I think I fell asleep the first time I watched it.

And just to pile shit on top of shit, I've heard it just wasn't much of a film. People I know whose opinion I value have advised me against it...

Watch it, for an big commercial Hollywood movie its awesome and especially well worth showing to potential new recruits. Is it 100% accurate? Of course not. Is it revolutionary? No. Is it an entertaining watch while still making an strong case for activism and against police brutality? Absolutely.

Not to be a pain in the ass, but point of order: It wasn't a "big commercial Hollywood movie." Sure, it had a couple of famous actors in it, but it's an independent film.

As a matter of fact, it wasn't a big commercial Hollywood movie. The picture was a low budget independent production that utilized A list actors who worked for scale because of their (liberal) political commitment, and their scenes were shot in a matter of days to keep even the cost of Equity base payment low.

It wasn't a bad picture, and as you noted, it works with an uninformed audience to get them asking questions. I'll give it a pass for its agitation-propaganda value.
