Tesla was a real person..and his inventions were 100 yrs beyond their time. He was a brillant scientist, and literally played with lightning. He did this in 1898!
Go figure... he was a true freak show. I believe he came from a very strong Socialist background....
I know that Tesla's research was used by the Nazis in the 1930's and Russians in the cold war. Obviously they were discovering new types of uses for the Tesla Coil and power transmission.

cheers, i was playing c&c and my mate said "you know they really exist" i just wanted to make sure. Did he actually build a proper telsa coil? or where they just prototypes?

secondly, Tesla was quite interesting. I think he had a certain amount of OCD and he also proposed to the gov't for funding on his "Death Ray."
