I can't remember if I saw this post on here sometime recently but what the heck. What do you guys think of anarcho-capitalism? Isn't it a bit of an oxymoron? I hear anarchists/commies all the time saying it's fake anarchy and won't work.
EDIT: Ah shit, I meant to put this under opposing ideologies. I can't delete it, so just post on the other one instead http://www.revleft.com/vb/opinions-anarcho-capitalismi-t154380/index.html?t=154380

The general idea is that in order to defend private property a state is needed. Therefore ancaps aren't anarchists at all. I think. That's what was brought up last time anyway.

I think it would lead very quickly to the return of the Middle Ages or at least conditions comparable to developing countries if the working class doesn't revolt against it first. For that matter, I suspect that most actual capitalists would not really want to live under anarcho-capitalism. Notice that the main base of support for this strange ideology comes from libertarians on the internet rather than corporate executives. For all their talk of government as the cause rather than solution to problems, the capitalists hardly want to abolish the state but ensure that it continues to serve their interests rather than the interests of the working class. Why should a corporation thriving under the current regime and receiving subsidies from that regime want to abolish it and any future states? Whatever profit they gain from the end of any taxation or regulation, they would end up having to pay billions of out their own income for private military defense, police protection, and training workers in areas public education used to handle (you can't maintain a modern level of technology if your workforce can't even read).

Anarcho-Capitalism is an impossible concept and is not an ideology.

Anarchists ARE Socialists. All of you Paultards need to realize that when you take the state away Corporations and big business will swoop in and replace them, and then the Corporate controlled government you hate so much will be even worse and will be completely corporate controlled!

Some ancaps point to Somalia as being anarcho-capitalist, but Somalia there is a series of warlords running the country so I would argue the state is still there. Ancaps are idiots and their ideology is impossible to achieve since private property MUST be defended.

From what I understand, they take a great interest in the indigenous legal system known as xeer (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xeer) as an example of a stateless legal system centered on property rights. Apparently this system prohibits taxation, for instance, and relies on private individuals who specialize in its interpretation to serve as judges.
