What is the story with Elena Kagan, Obama's nominee to the US Supreme Court? Obviously she's pro-bussiness and is far from being a socialist. The only progressive thing she's done is to temporarily kick out military recruiters at Harvard because of their anti-lgbt discrimination.
Kagan wrote a dissertation about the history of the New York SP. Her brother, Marc Kagan, is a labor activist and (I suspect but could be wrong) is in Solidarity.
Was Kagan a socialist at one time? Is she a personal opportunist, waiting to see which way the wind would blow and what type of academic patronage she could get?
