lol I know :p but I ment like a facebook for leftists, I have seen that there's a few right wing and neo-Nazi ones that croped up when myspace was at it's height but never seen any left wing ones. lol or is there a reason why there's not one ie. Revleft is all we need?

Would you really want to be on a leftist social networking site in the first place? You would essentially be advertising yourself to any neo-Nazi or right wind lunatic with an internet connection who might want to access that sort of info. I view that concept as being a bit unnerving, personally.

Using a regular social-networking account is questionable enough. Using one SPECIFICALLY for leftists is insane, though.

I mean, I don't know. Ask communists in Turkey or somewhere what they think of this idea.

true although I am guessing that's why the Nazis created there own myspace as it could be a bit more selective in terms of membership, invite only ect. rather than them having there profile on myspace with a pic of some Nazi pic.
I would rather have my details on a site that's run by leftwingers than a site like facebook. lol well I suppose that's if you want your details on the net at all anyway

Not a chance in hell!!

I don't even use Facebook, i definitely wouldn't put any info on a leftist social networking site.
It would be a target for anyone who is against socialist ideas, constant attacks etc..

I'm still waiting for the 'leftist youtube' which has still failed to materialise.

Dude, we've got blogs that people post stupid crap in, user pages that people fill up as if everyone wanted to read their autobiography, groups that nobody actually post in, friend lists full of people you don't know, and private and visitor messages so you can fill your life with a bunch of first-world style drama.
REVLEFT IS FACEBOOK.

True, it's all about islam now but if I were the part of the government that's in charge of stopping riots and protests, etc, I'd keep one eye on the left...

Well it's not like the government's worried about the impending revolution but they still go out of their way to fuck up communists and anarchists in the States. See: Freedom Road raids, the gov't harrassment of Anarchists in the past few years.

Drop the "The." Just "Socialist Network." It's cleaner.

The FBI/MI5's wet dream...

You know they can just pretty much trace each users IP, then from there get your information?

And even if you hide/block your IP, they can just go to your provider for internet if they really wanted to find out.

But if they go to your ISP, and you are behind a VPN, all the ISP really knows is that you're connecting to the VPN. All the traffic is encrypted. Now, the real problem is clandestine activities the CIA may be doing, like using illegal hacking tools to crack encryption and such...

To be fair, thanks to the groups I joined on facebook and the fact I post on here, I'm probably monitored anyway. However, it's not like I'd say anything incriminating or plan direct action over the internet. Obviously I'm lucky to live somewhere that doesn't actively persecute leftists, but I don't think a leftist facebook type thing would actually mean I was monitored more than I already am.

I'm not convinced they aren't doing this already. Keeping a Facebook account isn't such a great idea.

In addition to these, there is Freenet (https://freenetproject.org/) for all your guaranteed anonymity needs. Not specifically a social network, but it beats state censorship and keeps you out of prison or worse in some countries. If you decide to use Freenet, use it through the Tor browser bundle (https://www.torproject.org/projects/torbrowser.html.en), to ensure complete anonymity.
