I think I recall hearing about these guys before, but I decided to visit their website and see what they're about. Apparently they put forward what they call a "third way" alternative to both capitalism and socialism:

http://www.cesj.org/thirdway/comparison3rdway.htm

Looking it over, it seems their idea of socialism is whatever the USSR had, and their "third way" looks to me like it's just social-democracy... which is still capitalism, just prettied up and made more "just."

Are these guys even relevant? I know, an ironic question to ask when socialists are fragmented as fuck, but still. I don't see what's so unique about their proposal. Like I said, it doesn't look very different to what the Scandinavian countries have.

Apparently it's based on the ideas of Louis Kelso, an investment banker who apparently invented employee stock ownership programs (ESOPs). The Sourcewatch article (http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=Center_for_Economic_and_Social_Jus tice) says it's an all-volunteer outfit, and they seem to be heavily tied in with Catholic social justice teaching, with priests on the board etc. A couple of the people are former Reagan appointees. To the extent it does anything, it promotes ESOPs.
