Across 126,000 Chinese factories, workers have refused to live like this any more. Wildcat unions have sprung up, organised by text message, demanding higher wages, a humane work environment, and the right to organise freely. Millions of young workers across the country are blockading their factories and chanting, "There are no human rights here!" and, "We want freedom!

I've heard gossip through some interesting channels that a lot of the young labour activists organizing these unions are pretty ideologically serious party members, but I can't confirm it at all either way, and don't really know anyone who can.
What is clear between the lines, though, is that there is definitely debate within the CPC and there are officials supporting the workers. That's not to say that the debate is as free and open as it should be, or that the top leadership aren't right-wingers, or that this isn't a party that openly lets the members of the bourgeoisie join it to gain access to political power - but that China is a much, much more complex country than it is generally portrayed as, including on the left.
