I think black metal is utter shite and cannot be taken seriously however it can be amusing on occasion and is capable of providing a few chuckles every once in a while. Cradle of filth is hilarious.

Yes it can be funny, for about 10 seconds. I hear this stuff on the local college station sometimes.
HHHGGGWWWAAAA!!! AAARRGGHHH!!!!
To each his or her own, but "the best type of music"? That's a huge stretch.

I agree with the majority of the posts on the board.

Overall all? Or in this thread?

I don't think I know exactly what bands would be classified as "black metal". Like Slayer, Napalm Death, Soilwork, Cannibal Corpse?

i used to like it but then something happened. i dont know exactly what but i just cant take it as seriously as i used to. i guess i just matured out of it or the appeal of it wore away. i see it now as something of a mockery of metal. but thats just me.

I used to be real into black metal and all, a huge Mayhem fan to, but I just got out of it. I also have trouble taking it seriously now. Either way, Euronymous was a Communist heh.

like it alot!

but to say it's the best metal? nah, power or heavy metal is far more advanced than those middleages black metal bands

Which band is the one where the singer killed the drummer? I know it was a black metal band, just not sure which one....

Actually it was Varg, the bassist who killed Euronymous the guitarist in Mayhem. Varg is in Burzum to, a one man Nazi Black Metal band. There's also the drummer from Emperor Faust who killed some random gay guy in Lillehammer.

Does that sound like it'd make a good SNL skit to anyone else?

You guys are all racists. WHAT THE FUCK!!! "BLACK" Metal?! That implies that it's African. It should be Colorless metal, you racist fucks.

If you want to know about it read "Lords of Chaos", there're alot of jackasses in that scene. It is mostly Nazis, know thy enemy I guess. And yeah, it does sound like a SNL skit.

And Black Metal is supposed to refer to it's "evilness" because it's "spooky".

Cradle of Filth isn't even considered Black Metal by any Black Metal fans. It constantly amuses me how people can have such strong opinions of something they know little about.

Not a single one of those bands are Black Metal actually. Examples of Black Metal bands are Bathory, Emperor, Burzum, Mayhem, Darkthrone, etc.

The name "Black Metal" developed from the Venom song of the same name. And yes, it is good (even though its fan base is being infiltrated with shit-headed Nazi "Odinists").

It was a member of some Norwegian black metal band that traveled across the country and burned churches! He was know as "Greven" and he is the only thing I'm proud of from my country.....

But Black Metal are ONE of the best genres... But I have to disagree that it is THE best.. Cradle of Filth and everything is good, but I can't remember all black metal band names...

I don't mean that its the best music type ever,i just think its MY favorite type of music for the moment and possibly quite-a-while.

The ''Odinist'' arn't all those scandinavian Pagan black metal are they?because i just ordered some immortal and dark throne and i won't be too happy if they're preaching Nazi crap

The back of Transylvanian Hunger from Darkthrone says (or at least used to say) Norse Arisk Black Metal (spelling?) which translates into "Norwegian Arayan Black Metal", at least that's what I got from Lords of Chaos and the whole "legend" of that little event, but I guess the drummer apologized but left it on their, I used to have a copy of it during my more metal headed days.
Immortal to my knowledge aren't Nazis, just stay away from Burzum, Absurd, and Christ I forgot the other one, if I remember I'll post it later.
Not all Odinists are Nazis though, I know Enthroned (I think it's Enthroned) are Odinists but not Nazi, same with a few others like Vintersorg.

The best way to experience Black metal is live It's so theatrical and the music is intense.

I agree It would be dumb to take some aspects of It seriously like the whole vampire, satan worshiping thing.

But you can't deny that the bands do play hard. Besides if you take likin park seriously why not black metal that happens to be more elaborate and has REAL fans.

But really black metal has a deeper meaning then all of that vampire devil worshiping thing you always read about.

Here's a good site

Most Odinists aren't racist. In fact, there is quite a big "Pagans Against Fascism" movement.

Anyhow, apart from Burzum, the only band I know of who are Nazis is Judas Iscariot.

Indysocialist
6th October 2003, 03:11
That Judas Iscariot guy is a Nazi? Holy shit, I didn't know that. Oh well, I don't listen to him anymore anyway.
