The first time I posted here about Jeremy Marks he had recently got out of holding for "attempted lynching". In reality he (a 19 y-o black male) vidoe taped a cop smashing a 15 y-o black males head into a bus window. A couple months later after Marks' mother Rochelle Pittman had been working with the PSL on the case for a while the police performed a 'gestapo' style raid on their home, without serving a warrant and after pointing a gun at their 8 year old neighbors head. A lawyer active in the PSL went with Rochelle to file a report at the police station, he then photographed the complaint before turning it in. After that the police claimed she had never filed a complaint and had just walked into the police station very disoriented. One of our fellow revlefters actually went to one of the hearings.
The new update is that Marks has no prison sentence and all other charges against him have been dropped except resisting arrest which was dropped to a misdemeanor and this charge will be off his record after three years of probation.
I know I'm just plugging the organization I'm in but the funding for the defense as well as their lawyer was entirely provided by the PSL. (Also some Google exec. contributed some money)
