View Full Version : Apparently we're hateful racists.

At my work, there's a kiosk with a computer that allows us to access the internet without logging into any sort of system (i.e. the company has no way of identifying who's going to which sites...except something like e-mail, of course).
Anyway, while on break, I thought to myself, "Hm, I wonder if the company filters have blocked RevLeft?"
I go to the computer at the kiosk, type "www.revleft.com" into the address bar on the browser, and watch as the "Restricted" message comes up. The stated reason? "Racism and hate." Not that I'm surprised the site would be blocked, but the rationale seems a little out there.
 Ok...

I knew it. Malte is a German nazi!

Yeah, a lot of the web filter lists categorize sites like Revleft as "Racism and Hate". Stormfront is usually thrown in there too.

Maybe it's classed as "hate" because we want to overthrow the government?

You should have looked up Stormfront. It would have been funny, and sad at the same time, to see it not blocked.

We promote CLASS HATRED
As some talk show hosts would say here.

We're all richist. Prejudiced against the rich.
Yes I have actually heard this term used seriously before.

Revleft was never blocked on the computers I've accessed it on. Other leftists sites like Flag Blackened were blocked when I was in high school for "extremism and terrorism".

See guys, I knew the word "cracker" was totally racist

Guess the libyan law isn't the only thing to ban "the fostering of classhatred"

That is off course not hate, but common sense.

It is for workers, but it probably isn't for those that decide which websites to block.

Actually today, when I was on the street selling our paper, some genius came to me and compared us to the fascists. He said that it's strange how the nazis are so widely condemned but not the communists.
All I've got to say is that it was a shame that it wasn't a younger man. Not that I would have beat him up, but I just can't be really insolent against old people due to my upbringing.

Well, maybe the person who was in charge of blocking stuff was one of those dumb asses who thinks Nazism and communism are the same thing/confuses them... Possible.

Revleft is also blocked at my school for the same reason. It is possible my school and your workplace use the same web filtering system/blocklist for censorship.

Again, same at my school, "racism and hate". Found it ironic as I was trying to access the anti-fascism sub-forum.

Whereas I have no problem being lippy to older folks, just ask Jazzratt.

*sigh*this again
Its nothing to do with whether or not the forum is 'racist'.
The problem is, with the net blocking software the context sensitivity is shite (unable to distinguish between racist language or criticism of racism). Even discussion or mention of racism makes the site blocked because of racism.
I'm guessing the culprit here is websense. They are a bunch of Israel funding shitheads who made enemies with the LGBT community by producing software that blocks links to non pornographic LGBT links. Probably due to equivalent temperances to why revleft gets blocked for 'racism'.

Revleft isn't blocked at my school. Obviously there are some good comrades in the administration. ;) However, when I tried to visit the website of this one game called Transformice (it's a mulitplayer game where you're a mouse and your goal is get cheese, bring back to base) and it was bocked for "porn"... I never understood that. Also, one of the reasons it gives for blockage on a bunch of sites is "AllowedforStaff" ... .what is that supposed to mean? School filters are stupid.

Surely you could have challenged him on a intellectual level rather than being 'insolent'?

Somehow I doubt that this kind of social situation and the general mindset of the person in question would allow something like that to happen.
