How does the NHS relate to socialism? Is it a model for medical services in a socialist "system"?

well being from the UK free healthcare is just a normal thing to me/us, I don't see it as a socialist thing because I think healthcare is a basic human need (then again, capitalism wouldn't know much about basic human needs). but as for being a model for socialist medical services, I'm not entirely sure much would change (except for the rip off parking prices). I guess the exact same idea would just spread out to other things like housing and basic needs; it's there if you need it. then again I'm no expert on this kind of thing and I'm not entirely sure I understood the question (because I'm stupid) so this probably didn't help lol.

The NHS, if I understand it correctly, is not unlike what would be in a socialist system. As GK95 put it, it's there if you need it and making you pay for it would be nonsensical unless you're trying to make a profit, which socialism doesn't do. Like all welfare within capitalist states, it is a result of workers struggling against the rulers for their rights.
