Korean is a really easy language to learn. While I was out there I met an American who claimed to have learned the alphabet while on the flight over. All the letters are based on the position your mouth makes when you make the sound so an M sound looks pretty much like this -
it's an extremely logical alphabet.

Maybe you found it easy, but Korean is pretty consistently ranked among the most difficult major languages. Learning the alphabet and mastering vocabulary/grammar (agglutinative grammar is very tough to get down) are two very different things. Plus, the Korean alphabet is only one part of the written language...you won't be able to read a newspaper without the "Hanjas" (Chinese characters). Read this (http://how-to-learn-any-language.com/e/languages/korean/index.html) if you don't believe me. But if you want my advice, don't pay much attention to how hard a language is...you should learn it because you love it. Even the "easy" languages can take years to master.

Despite the attractiveness of South Korea culturally and economically, advanced learners report that it is difficult to use the language since nobody will correct you if you make a mistakeLoL that bits true they always get what you mean but they don't usually correct you I had to get my friends to do that.

and people will volunteer to speak in English whenever they can.
That bits only true if they're under 30 as English wasn't widely taught before that. It also depends where you are as well and who you're talking to obviously the higher the education the person received the better their English will be but that won't be most people you meet in shops or cafes unless you're in Itaewon.

I don't pretend to be fluent at all I was only there a few months but after two weeks I could read basic things like the names of shops and stuff. So yeah the basics are pretty easy but I have heard the advanced stuff is more complex although I also met people learning the advanced stuff who said it was piss easy. So I guess what I'm saying is don't be afraid of it.
