Pretty cool, but that lock thing confused me. Got as far as working out how to get the first digit, but then it's all really hard to work out what it's talking about. Is it just me?

"..however if you quit by age 50, you can gain six of those years back."

Excellent.

To add to those three "HOW TO CHEAT AT SCHOOL" hacks, here is how you pad the length of a paper.

Press control F. Do the whole "Find and Replace" thing. In the "Find" space, type a period "."

In the "Replace with" section, do the same thing. Highlight it. Click on "Font". Change it to 14 point instead of 12. The difference is hard to notice but adds just a fraction of an inch of space around the full-stop. You can try this with other punctuation, but it may be more or less noticeable. The more punctuation you have, and the longer the paper already is, the more space this trick will net you.

I never had a problem with the length of my papers, but this is pure genius.

You can also add length by putting in a title, subtitle, author, quote, then start your intro paragraph (with lines between all the above obviously). You then make your title larger, your sub-title a bit smaller, and your quote in italics and before you even start writing you have 3/4 - 1/2 a page filled. A quote at the end of the paper will help as well, and the more quotes you indent into the page itself will boost your page count without work on your part. You can also site the whole thing (author, book, year, page) after each quote to take up space.

I also find that slightly more spacing (say, 2.1-spaced) is generally pretty hard to notice, but if I recall correctly it doesn't do much unless it's, like, a 30-page research paper.

You could just increase the line and character spacing or reducing the print borders. Or, maybe you could go into more detail with your answers so you can pick up some more marks?

It's all about the quotations. I was a history major and anyone in that department will feel me on that. You just gotta master the ellipses so you can keep it double spaced.

My school watches the print borders and character spacing, so that point trick is pure genius. Altough I never really had a problem with the lenght of my texts, it might be useful later.

Well, I'm in university so our paper lengths are based on the word count. Still would be awesome if I knew that in high school.

I love things like this. I used to have a book filled with this kind of stuff, I'm gonna have to look around for it.

Item 2 under miscellaneous hacks (the one about measuring with your hand) works with feet as well and you don't even need a ruler. In the US, men's shoe sizes are done in inches, so if you know your shoe size, you can measure things to the nearest half inch. This still works if you live outside the US, since even though different countries have different standards for shoe sizing, they print all the applicable sizes on a tag on the underside of the tongue of your shoe... which is done so they don't have to print a different tag for each continent.

Interesting side note: If you place your forearm flush with the sole of your foot, lining up your elbow with the edge of your heel, you'll probably notice that [elbow to wrist] your forearm is almost the exact same length as your foot, toes included. So, if you know your US men's shoe size, you can measure things with your forearm as well... This will save you the hassle of dirtying up things with your nasty ass shoes.

I've also found that making your spaces size 12.5 font instead of 12 can net some extra space without being noticed.

Always research before you buy. I did a bit of research on polyphasic sleep, and apparently it's not all it's cracked up to be.
