(I thought that this was significant enough for it's own thread.)
Anyway, he's gone, but I doubt we'll see the same kind of regime house cleaning that we've been seeing in Tunisia or (to a somewhat lesser extent) Egypt. Probably too much at stake for the USA. Although who knows. I don't claim to be an expert on Yemen. Or really know much about it at all, lol.

The opposition accepted the deal from what I read- it was brokered by the GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) who are obviously not wanting anything else to spread within their borders.
The leaders who claim to be speaking on behalf of the opposition said that they did not agree to it originally because President Saleh would be granted immunity in this arrangement. It seems though that they were willing enough to accept this provision regardless though- I think many of those with interests in the economy are aware that the longer these demonstrations go on, the closer they get to the country imploding on itself. They want to diffuse it or they won't have their shot at ruling the country.

President of Yemen continues to be a dick; more dead in that country (http://english.aljazeera.net/news/middleeast/2011/05/20115601713251894.html)

Names & Faces change but the entire corrupt system remains intact. Same thing happened in Tunisia & Egypt. I don't scorn the hard work of the masses in overthrowing the hateful regimes but that their struggles won't achieve much unless the whole fucking state is smashed into a million pieces and its fragments are scattered to the wind.
