There was a riot in Stokes Croft last night. It was a bit of a policing disaster. Media blackout, hard to find anything at all let alone anything leaning towards accurate coverage.

Local news:

http://neurobonkers.com/?p=2509

I can give some background on the Stokes Croft anti-Tesco campaign and the Telepathic Heights squat later.

BBC has an interview with a cop in which he says they had "some information" that the squatters were apparently going to petrol bomb a Tesco Express...

'some evidence'? i have some glass bottles, a jerry can and some old rags in my house. evict me.

the petrol bomb thing is a classic police set up. the campaign has been totally peaceful so far, its seems very unlikely that they would now start petrol bombing

bristol indy also has some 1st hand accounts:

I've met them, I find that suggestion pretty laughable.

I'm also hearing that police forgot to lock up after themselves and that squatters have just gone straight back in.

One riot, eight injured officers, one smashed up Tesco, and they didn't even get as much as one evicted squat = result!

Nine arrests though apparently, but still...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hkCvka1uwuo and there's a lot more video out there besides.

@rakhmetov, make it happen conrade.

On the molotov thing again: what kind of numbskull would leave a hot item such as a molotov in a squatted building? its blatent BS

In this article:

http://www.newstatesman.com/blogs/laurie-penny/2011/04/stokes-croft-police-tesco

Laurie says activists are travelling to bristol now. do any conrades know about a calout?

Dunno but I came home pretty sharpish. Right now our concern is obviously defending the squats in the area.

P.S. I'm not sure the molly thing is such bullshit after all...

man, i lost count how many times that happend at evictions over here.

are you by the way aware of the existence of these things:
http://fotos.marktplaats.com/kopen/4/3b/pqBFfNNmgRzRsFYwR8f/qA==.jpg

they are supposed to support floors etc during construction but if you bolt an heavy beam to the floor and one to the door they are excelent for making a door virtually unbashable. you can find them very cheap (very cheap ;)) at construction sites.

if you then barricade the windows with these:
http://fotos.marktplaats.com/kopen/9/c1/HhnPshRYGcdmvkGb13wa0w==.jpg

you have the basics of the dutch squatter barricading...

we are now so skilled at this shit they started specialised police teams to deal with them.
if you want i could probably write an online guide when i have time for it, remind me to do so if i forget

There was another riot in Bristol on Thursday night btw. The squat was evicted the next day - there was a bit of a standoff with three guys on the roof.

WTF it doesn't even look like it hit him. I keep watching it and I can't see when there is actually contact, it looks like the person misses him, it hits the floor, then the cop falls over.

Anyways to embed you just hit the youtube button, paste the link between what shows up then delete everything up until after the = sign.

For example your video's link was:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3jCVl-lLcBs&feature=youtu.be
What you want is:

The charge was downgraded to GBH.

good...video works again...perhaps something I blocked myself may have caused it to report dead.

@Revolutionary Tool: the optic discrepancy between the block falling is caused by the shadow on the building.
