Alright so when I was in St Petersburg I visited the Hermitage museum and I kinda realized something.
I don't like good painters. Not just in there, but in general. Paintings aren't catchy and I am not the kind of person who can appreciate masterpiece paintings for the skill involved, or the detail, or maybe that it's a new way of paintings. I only like catchy drawings. Like this....

I like it because it's a fun cartoony picture. It's catchy.
I don't like this....

I don't see how this is interesting. It's just night time and it was drawn kind of swirly. There's nothing fun or angry or happy or sarcastic about it. It's just a drawing of the sky.
Does anyone else feel similarly or am I alone in this non-appreciation of masterpieces?
I love architecture though. The architecture in st petersburg is breathtaking.

I like the second one better. But I don't dislike one style over the other- it depends on the piece.

Mona Lisa is the most overrated painting to ever exist.
IDK about the particular example in the OP, but I agree with the sentiment if I'm understanding it right:
basically, ralph steadman > monet

I think it depends on the piece of art to be honest. I don't actually know that much about art for saying how much I enjoy drawing. I'm always interested to look at other people's work if it's the kind of stuff I do, but if something is aesthetically pleasing, the style is mostly irrelevant to me.

I disagree with the idea these two artist are comparable at all. It would be like trying to decide who is better between John Lennon and Fredric Chopin. It all come down to what style of art you prefer.

She's not saying their styles are comparable, she's saying she prefers one over the other. I can say Justin Bieber > Pink Floyd while not saying they play the same style.

I recall seeing his works from a history textbook at school.
I believe this one in particular was intended to be an illustration of hell.
Certainly not the sort of place i'd like to spend eternity, anyway.
