Christopher Read wrote in From Tsar to Soviets:

"In the decree of 7 December that set it up, [the Cheka's] main task was defined as searching out and liquidating all attempts at counter-revolutionary and sabotage acitivity in the whole of Russia, from any source. More specifically the commission was enjoined to turn its attention in the first place to the press, then to sabotage, then to the Kadets, the Right SRs, saboteurs and strikers. It was permitted to confiscate, evict, deprive prople of rations and to publish a list of enemies of the people. It was to take over such duties from the Liquidation Commission of the Military Revolutionary Committee."

Any more details on the Liquidation Commission, from who headed it to its precise function, would be greatly appreciated.
