Students and workers at Emory University are occuppying the Presidents office after he refused to meet with delegates concerning the documented human rights abuses of food service contractor Sodexo. They are asking all Atlanta corades to join them and bring food and entertainment. More information as I get it!

Just got there. There's about twenty folks, music, food, bright signs and banners, and lots of camaraderie. Check out ajc.com for an article about it.

The decision has been made to continue the occupation through the night. Demands are being written up as a prerequisites for a meeting including transparency and media presence, as well as his recognition of the basic facts about Sodexo and its treatment of workers.

So we were just told we have to leave by six thirty, the response was the singing of "we shall not be moved".

After a confrontation with the police, occupation ended and students are out front holding a mass meeting on next steps. Video and pics when I get a chance.

So there is a camp being set up out front of the Administration building and people are working non-stop tonight to organize a rally tomorrow before meeting with the administration. Who knows what will happen. Glad to see everyone's so interested in people, y'know, taking action.

Thanks for the updates.

How many people turned out in the end, were there any who came from outside the uni?

Yeah, I was from outside the uni. There were about 20-30 people occuppying at any one time. About twenty showed up outside after the police blocked the entrances. Good turnout for a bourgeois private uni in a bourgeois part of town.
