View Full Version : What can and cannot be discussed in OI?

I was reading through the FAQ, which is the closest thing to a rule book, and couldn't find much on what can't be discussed in the general forum. A few things, but not much. Discussion of these thing usually get you sent to OI.

Now in the OI rules, the only rule I could find is don't start your own thread *****ing about your restriction.

Are we free to discuss anything else? For example, do the restrictions on topics under DIY apply here?

The first rule of OI is you don't talk about OI.

I think apart from blatant sexism (excluding pro-life stance), racism, incessant trolling and fascism pretty much everything is allowed

Well back before my first imprisonment I was getting warnings that I was pushing the limits of DIY by my discussion of direct actions. Just curious if I have more rope now that I am restricted.

But do I have more or less rope now? Am I an outcast or on probation?

But do I have more or less rope now? Am I an outcast or on probation? Why on Earth would this forum lay out very clear rules concerning what topics can't be discussed on the forum, but then say 'oh, but if you've been restricted for being a numpty, we'll reward you by letting you break forum rules'. Are you actually being serious?

The point is this. The threshold for being Restricted is very low 1 in 10. (I won't go into my case).

The threshold for being banned is higher.

Thus the valid question. Can I discuss direct action here? Potential targets? How about firearm procurement? Obviously explosives are a no-no, more's the pity. And drugs have no interest for me.

Discussing potential direct action targets on a public forum is just stupidity, as is discussing plans to make or acquire anything that is illegal. As far as I am aware, discussing direct action in a general sense is fine, but giving details of any direct action is a really bad idea and could possibly be incriminating not just for yourself, but other comrades involved in the action.

If you'd be banned for it on the main forums, then you'd be banned for it here. How difficult is that to understand? But as I said, just try it. You want to talk about direct action? Do it! You want to talk about potential targets? Do it! You want to talk about firearm procurement? Do it! And if the mods get all up in your case, or even ban your sorry ass, then that's your fault for not showing the faintest shred of common sense in the first place, isn't it? :bored:

Well, you could post a picture of yourself in KKK gear with a giant burning cross etc.... you'd probably be banned for that.

You are telling me! I won the Golden Che award or RevLeft. But popular acclanmation of the RevLeft Soviet I am the person on this board that most personifies the Communist ideal--and I'm Restricted.

But for Stalinst, Pol Postists, Kim Il Sungists--RevLeft is a posting playround. Is this the future of Communism. I ask you?

If you want to be banned, you could just pm an admin with the following:

"Ban me, please."

You're not allowed to ask for bans. You'll be banned for it.

I second this motion. It would also save us having to read all your shit, so everybody's a winner. But actually, so that it matches, you know, every other post you make, you'd have to write 'when I was in prison I was thinking that maybe you should ban me', because that's your thing. And that's annoying. No need to add that little preamble to all your threads. It gets old fast. We. Get. The. Fucking. Point.

/weeping and wailing, care and other sorrow :sneaky:

I have no reason why I'm even complaining, I just thought I'd let y'all know that this guy has rubbed me up the wrong way for some reason...

Fuck---- Rabbi K is in mean mood this week!

To be fair- perhaps if someone has been incarcerated for a period of time they might have a lot of stuff stored up inside them that they need to get out.

I think he could perhaps put it all in one thread though.

Hey I deserved my first 18 months. But I just got done doing 17 more months I didn't deserve (this is not just my opinion, it's a legal fact, that's why I'm out), and it's only been 6 weeks out. So excuse me if it is a major factor in my life.

Also, it's an experience that can be shared so facts can be learned without having to go through it. Interested in hearing about the mindset of the lumpen proletariat? Now you know someone who has some information. Interested in known what it is like to REALLY be under The State's power?

People do write books about their experiences in prison. But I don't have the attention span for that, so I just drop a little here and there.

P.S. While I was in prison :) I only met 1 Jew.
