This guy, who I never heard of before I stumbled across his obituary racked up a pretty impressive record:

He was an African-American son of a longshoreman from Brooklyn and a college drop out who apparently ushered in video-game consoles and was part of the circle that included folks like Steve Jobs in the I thought this line was particularly impressive:

Reading the obituary he sounds a lot like he's probably the beginning of the end of a generation from the "two guys in a garage" tinkerer who changed the way consumer electronics happens.

I thought this line was particularly impressive:

“He continued building devices to control telescopes, lasers, tools, etc. up until the day he went to the hospital,” said friend Erhart.


Hopefully there's still room for those kinds of ground breaking innovations that don't require massive funding and a giant like IBM or Apple behind you.

Nobody knows him nor ever heard of him but use almost every day hes creation :(
