Hello Comrades,
Just out of curiosity what communist/socialist parties or movements do fellow comrades in the USA affiliate with and why? I recently joined CPUSA. No bashing please, just polite discussion about why you support the part or organization that you do.

I'm in the process of joining up with the CPC, Canadian Communist Party. I read an email from them last night, they're sending me their party constitution and policies and an application card. Once I join, I'm getting a phone call, eh :P

I am not a member of any political parties.
I know that the Socialist Workers Party operates in my state--I think it is the only radical party here in Nebraska. I get emails from them frequently about working class events, but they are always in Omaha and I live in Lincoln. I also read the SWP's newspaper, The Militant.
I have sat in on some Green Party meetings here in Lincoln. The Greens do not excite me, though. I would probably vote Green (as they are the strongest party running to the left of the Dems) in most elections if they manage to run a candidate, but they are very small and weak here.
I have voted for a couple of Democrats, too, in my short electoral life. Being 19, I have only voted in one national election and a second local election. I will not automatically vote for the Dem if they are the only left-center party on the ticket. In the Gubernatorial race last year, I refused to vote for the Dem (a psedo-Republican named Stormy Dean, in case anyone cares). I would have not voted for anyone for governor, until I found out a few days before the election that the SWP was running a write-in candidate for gov. I ended up throwing my vote away to her--symbolic for me, no real repercussions for it as the Republican incumbent Mike Johanns (I call him Gov. Scrooge because he keeps cutting every social service in sight) won heavily anyway.

I'm affiliated with no political party, but I work and volunteer at the local PIRG (which is a grass roots activist umbrella organization).
I plan to vote either Green or CPC in the upcoming October 2nd election.

Didn't a thread like this took place some time ago? Or is it just my memory betraying me?
Anyway, I'm not an official member but I will soon be of the Youth of the Israeli Communist Party. Why am I not a member now? Geographicall (I think it's written like this) problems, I live far from the nearest branch, so meeting with all the guys I'm suppose to meet to become a member takes time, especially since there are monicipal elections soon and everybody's busy.

I am a member, now that the dues have been paid, to the Oregon Socialist Party which really is just a part of the Socialist Party of the USA that Lardlad is a part of.
We in fact have one of our members/officials running for the socialist party presidential ticket. Walt Brown's Home Page (http://www.sos.state.or.us/elections/nov52002/guide/candidates/brownw.htm)
I really like this guy, have sent him letters. He ran in one of our recent state elections and lost. I don't know how I would feel about an 87 year old person being elected to office of the presidency. (I know it won't happen in a million years) but if it were possible right now I doubt that I would like that. I am not against age, I just don't know what the chances are of him making it through out his term. Not a lot of people reach age 91.
I predict myself doing more with the Socialist Party of Oregon this year. I am even considering about running for an office at some point within the next 10 years.

Come to NYC and INtern at the National party with me.
I checked your guy out, he seems like a good candidate, I'd need to see the other people running for the socialist ticket before I make my decision

I'm a member of the CPUSA and the YCLUSA. I don't know how I got into the YCLUSA (Young Communist League) but I just am. But yeah, I'm pretty happy with my choice so far.

RCP? Does that mean Russian Communist Party? Or Revolutionary Communist Party from some country?

I don't know how you join the Revolutionary Communist Party USA either. I don't agree with their stance on ignoring electoral politics but They do a lot of good work in the anti-war movement.

I think the RCP does it the old fashion way. That is, you don't fill out an application; you earn entry through hard work in the class struggle.
They don't ignore electoral politics, they just don't participate. They have some good articles on the recall in cali in their paper.

I have worked closely with the Washington State branch of the CPUSA, although I do not really like the CPUSA's policies. The people in the WA branch are good people, who mostly share my views, that's why I don't join the party nationally. They openly praise an economic and political model similar to what we se in China today. Not my kind of socialism.

I'm not an "active" member of any Party, but of the Marxist-Leninist organizations here in the US, my favorite is the Workers World Party (http://www.workers.org/).

Hi!javascript:emoticon('') I'm new here...but NOT new to the Left wing! I am completely in support of the CPC and other Left wing polical groups. javascript:emoticon('')I am pissed at the BC Governments treatment of the local economy....javascript:emoticon('<_<')supporting big corperations before the people is a REALLY bad idea.
