Which words of wisdom from el comandate are your favorite?
Mine is:
"At risk of seeming ridiculous,
let me say that a true revolucionary is guided by
a great feeling of love.
It is impossible to think of genuine revolutionary lacking this quality"

I am not interested in dry economic socialism. We are fighting against misery, but we are also fighting against alienation. One of the fundamental objectives of Marxism is to remove interest, the factor of individual interest, and gain, from people's psychological motivations. Marx was preoccupied both with economic factors and with their repercussions on the spirit. If communism isn't interested in this too, it may be a method of distributing goods, but it will never be a revolutionary way of life.

That is a great one. We do have to make sure everyone in revolutionary society gets their humanity nourished as well as their physical bodies.

This one tops it off for me.

"Cuba is one of the trenches of freedom in the world. Situated a few steps from U.S. imperialism, we have shown by our actions, our daily example, that in the present conditions a people can liberate themselves and keep themselves free" Ernesto Che Guevara.
I like this one, since it basically says that america doesn't want to give cuba freedom at all, and cuba is only free when it isn't under the influence of an imperialist state i.e. the U.S.

"I am neither a Christ nor a philantropist. I am everything contrary to a Christ, and philantropy seems worthless in comparisin to what I beleive in. I will fight with every weapon withen my reach, rather than get hung up on a cross or whatever"
-Che
I have that written on a sticker on my guitar case. I always found this quote kind of sad, but i thought i'd post it seeing as how my favourite quote was already being used (Good choice Debra Aro, I really like that one)

Here's a couple of more lighthearted ones....When he came under fire for the first time in Guatemala he admitted to...

"Words that do not match deeds are unimportant"
"Wherever death may surprise us, let it be welcome, provided that this, our battle cry, may have reached some receptive ear and another hand may be extended to wield our weapons and other men be ready to intone the funeral dirge with the staccato singing of the machine-guns and new battle cries of war and victory."

Nezvanova, that is one of his greatest quotes that I've ever read before. That quote and the one I'm about to post is a toss up between my favorite that I've read.
"Silence is an arguement carried on by other means."--Ernesto "Che" Guevara de la Serna.
I like this quote so much b/c it's short and sweet. Very subtle, very simple, yet very true.

CHE ON HIS PERSONAL WORK ETHIC:
CHE: 'Hey, comrade, where's your machete?'
DRIVER: 'I'm not here to cut. I'm the driver.'
CHE: 'Look, anyone can be a driver: find a machete and get to work like everyone else, or leave right now. And don't worry about the truck - if I have to, I'll drive back myself.'

a couple of my favorites that have not been posted yet:
"Where a government has come into power through some form of popular vote, fraudulent or not, and maintains at least an appearance of constitutional legality, the guerrilla outbreak cannot be promoted, since the possibilities of peaceful struggle have not yet been exhausted. "
- Ernesto Che Guevara (I believe this is from Guerilla Warfare)
"The laws of capitalism, invisible and blind for most people, act upon the individual without his awareness. He sees only the broadness of a horizon that appears infinite. Capitalist propaganda presents it in just this way, and attempts to use the Rockefeller case (true or not) as a lesson in the prospects for success. The misery that must be accumulated for such an example to arise and the sum total of baseness contributing to the formation of a fortune of such magnitude do not appear in the picture, and the popular forces are not always able to make these concepts clear."
- Ernesto Che Guevara (from "Man and Socialism in Cuba")

All of Che's quotes are my favourites. His words are true, stronger than the bullets which killed him and will still be echoing wround the world even when his mortal body has turned back to dust.

"Our every action is a battle cry against imperialism, and a battle hymn for the people's unity against the great enemy of mankind: the United States of America. Wherever death may surprise us, let it be welcome, provided that this, our battle cry, may have reached some receptive ear, that another hand may be extended to wield our weapons, and that other men be ready to intone our funeral dirge with the staccato singing of the machine guns and new battle cries of war and victory."

Not in referrence (necessarily) to what has been posted above thsi post, I must say that Che Guevara is the greatest revolutionary, poet, fighter, and leader the world has ever seen.
Everything that he says is true, poetic, inspiring, inspired, and revolutionary.
I love Che.

If you think that by showing Che's humour I am somehow debasing his character speak up...

We must carry the war into every corner the enemy happens to carry it: to his home, to his centers of entertainment; a total war. It is necessary to prevent him from having a moment of peace, a quiet moment outside his barracks or even inside; we must attack him wherever he may be, make him feel like a cornered beast wherever he may move. - Ernesto Che Guevara
voilà my favourite.

Hi! Welecome to the forum! I'd bet it's pretty cold in saskatchewen right about now (it's around -15 in my part of B.C.)
I think you're a bit confused about that first quote... it's sounds pretty similar to...
"because it is in the nature of imperialism that it makes beasts out of men, that changes them into blood thirsty predators willing to slit throats and murder..." but i may be mistaken about the quote..just sorta rang a bell is all...

I have never heard the second one before when did he say this? On what subject was he talking?

Che said the second quote when the Granma first landed in Cuba, or so I've heard. It was referring to the seemingly impossible task of liberating Cuba.

Hi im new here. i just found this board and must say its awesome to find so many people who care so much about che. but anyway my absolute favorite quote of che's was
"I know you've come to kill me. Shoot, coward, you're only going to kill a man."
really shows how brave he is and how humble he is also.
